    Protein bars are candy. The cheap ones are full of garbage protein, i.e. soy and other vegtrash or undigestible collagen stuff that can be labeled as protein. Some high end (price-wise) bars are OK and use whey. They aren't worth the price tag though.

    Bottom line, if you absolutely NEED candy they're a better choice than a normal candy bar, but not by much. I sometimes grab one of these from Aldi when I have a cookie craving, but the ingredients are crap.

    You have so many options, and your choice was to buy a perfectly viable one and then throw it away because of concerns you heard on the internet with no credible evidence.

    Re-evaluate your life. But also, other legumes are good for protein, including beans and nuts. Meat is loaded with complex proteins.
