That's not what societal collapse looks like anon. Societal collapse looks like two hundred years of every once-reliable institution slowly worsening, quality of life steadily decreasing, new political instability, coups, and civil wars happening every few decades with no major status quo change. Romans never got to return to hunter-gatherer lifestyles where they survived in a badass mad max wilderness. They just dealt with food shortages and barbarian raids until they either died or moved away. Societal collapse isn't dramatic or interesting. It's the most soul-crushing thing ever.

all civilizations last 150-350 years anyways. what makes Americans think theirs would last forever?

America was going to take over the entire world and there would be no more civilization changes because there is only one nation, under one God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.

yeah like the usa. founded in 1776, started collapsing around the 1960s and here we are today. all the signs of a dying civilization is checked off. and this week, the final one was checked off. hiring foreign people to be in the military. kek. usa is done. its over.

The US has been variously employing foreigners since the revolution. We had French generals leading revolutionary batallions, remember LaFayette? There was a huge legion of Irishmen who served in the civil war for the Union, with the promise of citizenship after the war was over. We had Mexican legions in WW2.

I'm not saying it's a good thing, it's just not new.

    >24 hr grocery stores all but dissappeared
24 hours serves no purpose for grocery stores, only big box retail.
    >shortages and empty shelves are a regular occurrence
    not in real states.
    >can't find produce items or cuts of meat that used to be common
not an issue in real states.
    >prices have more than doubled for most staples
this is true and it is a pile of fricking horseshit, we should start stealing to prove the point.
    >cheapest fast food options have tripled in price
irrelevant since it should only be eaten 1-2 times a month at most and completely forgotten about at best.

I'm not saying we need a bunch of 24/7 publixes or whatever but one (1) 24/7 grocery store would be useful. But they'd rather pinch pennies

During the dot com boom, the closest Home Depot was open 24/7. Feels like so much was possible then and we were headed in a good direction. Bubble burst but it didn't seem that bad as long as you weren't in Silicon Valley. Then 9/11 happened, Obama happened, Covid happened, and the end of borders happened. Now we're all just a pile of ugly mush.

24 hour stores were the peak of western civilization. We had the prosperity and work ethic to operate at all hours of the night, and the high trust high safety society required to not lose half the store to theft by morning.

My fricking Safeway ran out of milk. Milk for frick's sake! The whole milk cases were empty. And lately the cereal aisle is increasing barren too. And the meat counter, frick that, they never have anyone there to man it so good luck getting any service unless you walk in the back then they get pissy with you. Grocery store service has gone to shit and they just keep blaming it on the pandemic.

In America (not North or South America, or Canada), we dump millions of gallons of milk into the ocean every year just to frick with people and raise prices
We also have caverns where we store billions of wheels of cheese

It's crazy how Walmart has gotten so expensive. Orange juice there is over $4 a bottle but at Albertson's I can get it for $3 - 3.50. I had to resort to buying in bulk off Amazon because it ended up being cheaper than Walmart. And Walmarts in my area suck now that they require you to ring up and bag everything yourself.

I remember how Gorbachev knew that socialism was a bad ideology when he visited an American grocery store for the first time and saw how "the food lined up for people". Now we have degraded to the old Soviet way, wherein people must line up for food.
