A Burning Ham question

Is this ham safe to eat? It's going all gray, but luckily there's no foul stench of decay, just a tad of discoloration

I wouldn't even consider eating that. Nor should you.

But i wanna. Meat is expensive and it's got decent seasoning all over it. You'd be salivating if only you could smell it

Then delete your thread and do whatever you want and don't ask for opinions

I need to know to hear opinions. Maybe there's something I'm missing.

You sound like you're just being finicky and fussy and reject the ham out of any concern but for health

you're just waiting for someone to jostle you into eating that rotting ham. I think that's a bad idea so I'm just not going to continue.

True. And I'm not even afraid to admit that. As biased as I am, in no known universe would I eat that if someone actually brought up to my awareness a convincing enough argument to make it toss it

I'll eat that alright.but it gives me diarrhea or i some flesh eating bacteria kills me at least I'll know the culprit

        >Meat is expensive
not as expensive as spending a few days in the hospital because of a runaway bacterial infection

Nothing wrong with it, the pink is just food colouring that farmers put in it anyway. Eat it you'll be fine.

Pink's from sodium nitrate. It's what gives ham its hammy flavor. Used to prevent botulism, but that's really only relevant in making cured sausages like salami.

It's looking a bit far gone. Probably gonna give you the shits. I wouldn't trust it cold but if you cook it it might be alright.

Yeah I thought about that — if in doubt then fry it. Usually That's my way to go about it, too.

Are you guys pretending to be retarded? What difference would cooking it make? It's already rotten. It's riddled with bacteria shit.

    When did you cook it?

Not mine, but by the looks of it it couldn't have been more than a week ago. Probably within the past few days

I wouldn't eat that, but if it smells ok then it's probably fine

If it was fresh enough not to have started reeking before you cooked it, and it's cooked to an internal temp of at least 145f, you'll be fine.

    >bacteria is destroyed by heat
    >take rotten meat
    >burn it to a crisp
    >eat it
    >get ''''bacterial infection'''''' anyway
Germ theory is such a fucking scam.

But, anon. The germs were already their. They poop and produce toxins that than make you're tummy all rumbly. Then you shid and piss and cum.

That shit might make you I'll but would be fine cooked thoroughly, I'd use it in a stir fry or something, wouldn't be the first time and it's never been a problem, just frying it off real hot would be good enough.

curing meat results in it having that funky pink color, but it eventually just turns grey again. if you cure meat with plain salt it will also turn grey. if you're so worried about it, eat a tiny piece of it and see how you feel. unless there's something foreign clearly living on the meat (mold, for example) you probably are not going to get sick.

The meat turns this color when you cook it anyways. Just use extra seasoning to help kill the bacteria. You’re basically just curing it and killing any bacteria with the heat. If you make it quick enough you can take it to church and share it.

is it slimy? how long ago was it sliced
if it's not slimy it's just surface level oxidation which is safe to eat

if there's any slime or rancid smell, it's no longer safe to eat unless you have an iron gut.

    It's drawing close to evening,

I'm having my normal weekly diarrhea(cannot have been caused by the ham); no signs of food poisoning or anything, no stomach cramps, sickness or even nausea. So far so good
