Yes. Lucky I don't need to buy ice cream from supermarkets. Plenty of independent ice cream stands dotted all across New England. The key is knowing where makes the ice cream in house.
That's not how density and mass work. Gallon is a volume measurement. A gallon of water specifically weighs 8 pounds, but a gallon of mercury weighs 114 pounds. All things considered, cream is probably more dense than water, but could be less.
if you had ever cooked a single thing in your life you'd know fat reduces the density of water based foods. do you skim the fat from the bottom of a stew?

I didn't even read your original post and just skimmed the thread to find somethihg something to argue about
>American ice cream can be up to 43.75% air IE literally nothing
lol
>be me, eating haagen-dazs at home >boomer grandpa and boomer dad walk in >"anon why are you eating that, it's too expensive" >simply say that i enjoy it and i don't eat ice cream often >"but it's a rip off, they charge so much and give so little" >have to explain to these breyers-eating troglodytes why they're wrong in a calm and polite manner >they accuse me of being a conspiracy theorist and refuse to accept that their favorite ice cream is full of air >ask them to try some of the haagen-dazs i bought, and they do >they have the audacity to say it tastes "wrong" >boomer dad throws away the rest of the tub, wasting my ice cream >later on i hear them insulting me in the living room as usual, while they're watching sports >a week later i finally saved up enough money to move away from my abusive family >soon after settling in to my new home i learn that my family all died in a car accident involving a haagen-dazs truck >get contacted by a haagen-dazs representative, offering condolences and asking if there's anything the company can do to compensate me (likely because they don't want to face a massive lawsuit) >explain that my family were complete pricks who loved breyers ice cream and made fun of me for enjoying haagen-dazs >also sarcastically mention i could use a new job since i recently finished moving >fast forward to the future and now i own a fairly successful haagen-dazs store that the company built for me not too far from my house >tfw every time i see breyers ice cream i start jokingly imagining all of this being part of some deep conspiracy
Anyways, if you want real ice cream you just gotta do a little research and figure out which brands aren't pumping 50% air in their ice cream or whatever ratio breyers has.
i know this is a retarded and exaggerated shitpost but i agree with the heart of it
i dont buy ice cream every day or even every week
when i buy some i want the GOOD stuff if im going to be eating something bad for me
but my boomer parents are obsessed with quantity > quality and will get mad at me when they come over and see the "expensive" stuff i buy
>"oh my god...other people...have more interesting lives than me!? FAAAAAAAAKE! EVERY STORY ON THE INTERNET IS FAKE!"
imagine getting filtered so hard by other people's happiness that you spend every waking moment of your life obsessed with a fragile illusion because you're too much of a weak willed homosexual to actually do something meaningful with your life

anon you are projecting super fucking hard i dont know what the fuck are you talking about
i am just saying i prefer buying good name brand stuff i like instead of dollar general brand shitty ice cream
This is also what Australia & New Zealand define as ice cream. It's why most of the cheaper ice cream brands don't put the words "ice cream" on the label, because it has to say "reduced fat", so they stick that in tiny font on the underneath.
>American ice cream can be up to 43.75% air IE literally nothing
lol
>"low air ice cream" is gelato
No it fucking isn't. Why the fuck do Anglos always feel the need to hyperforeignise fucking everything? It's just our word for ice cream. All ice cream.
The only good ice cream that's widely available is Haagen Dazs. The reason it comes in a small container is because it isn't half air like most other ice creams are.
Ben and Jerry's is good >inb4 /misc/
Talenti is nice but usually kind of expensive unless it's on sale, I just don't eat it out of principle because it was my ex's favorite. Also technically gelato so I don't know how that plays into the "ice cream" definition
Ben and Jerry's isn't good unless you are some fat retard who needs 12 different kinds of candy and chocolate in their ice cream. Talenti is ok but for gelato it isn't great.
Also you don't inb4 your own post you invalid.
>Ben and Jerry's is good
Eh, I hate all the shit they add to it. Were it just the ice cream without all the bullshit, is be happy. Less chunky more monkey.
What's the angle here? You don't like good food? Is it a textural thing? Is it a matter of trying to pretend you're not already gorging on unhealthy shit by having "plain" ice cream?
No. I just don't like chunks of X,Y and Z in my cherry ice cream. I don't like fudge swirl, either. I just want the ice cream.
Not everything has to have an angle. It's like how you clearly don't like vaginas. I'm not accusing you of having some agenda or anything for it, tho.
>Ben and Jerry's is good

ice cream is a food of vice and people are acting like they're too good to have ice cream with matching additives?fuck the ben and jerry haters, pretentious cunts.
>"low air ice cream" is gelato

Breyers used to be very decent, but they changed their formula many years ago, probably around the time Kraft bought the company, and they’ve continued to monkey with it. They tout that they’re making these changes to please customers but it’s a corporate lie told to cover that they’re using cheaper ingredients.
Talenti has really gone downhill and I no longer buy it. They’ve lost the plot and seem to think they’re Ben and Jerry’s now. They used to sell gelato that was a fair substitute for what you can buy in the streets of Italy. It was very smooth, and offered simple flavors like vanilla bean, chocolate mouse, coffe, pistachio, and dulce de leche. Now the grocery stores seem to exclusively carry Talenti filled with bits of pie, candy, pretzels, and other bullshit. For me gelato is very much a texture thing. Filling it with globs of cookie dough and other garbage ruins it. If I want that I’ll buy one of any of Ben & Jerry’s or Bluebell’s ICE CREAM.
A long time ago I read a post about Breyer ice cream being fake ice cream. Is that still the case?
Breyers has both real and fake ice creams
Some are proper ‘ICE CREAM’ and labeled as such, a lot are of course ‘FROZEN DAIRY DESSERT’
Natural vanilla, Homemade Vanilla, natural strawberry, chocolate, mint chocolate chip and some others
Just gotta read labels, because they have like 4 different vanillas and a couple different chocolates, some of which aren’t ice cream.
Most of their candy mix ins are not ice cream (for the sake of keeping lower Calories to compensate for shit like oreos)
Anyone have a link to the Good Eats episode where he melts something like a half-gallon tub of cheap ice cream and a pint of the expensive stuff and the final volume is the same for both.
You realize Chapmans is basically the same formula, its just using canadian dairy instead(and the more lax naming laws in Canada allow it to be defined as ice cream. In america it wouldnt be)
To test it out, take a scoop and leave it at room temp for the day. 24 hours later, it wont have melted.
Breyers used to be the best ice cream you could buy at the grocery store until they cheaped out on everything. Now it's garbage. Only a few flavors can still legally be called ice cream
Buy a motorized ice cream machine, use real cream not whipping cream, make an egg custard, and find the right amount of xanthan gum to make it work in small batches
Get a deep freeze cooler
Yes. Lucky I don't need to buy ice cream from supermarkets. Plenty of independent ice cream stands dotted all across New England. The key is knowing where makes the ice cream in house.
Yeah, it's a definitional thing. Too much air and/or not enough milk fat.
>American ice cream can be up to 43.75% air IE literally nothing
lol
Wouldn't meet the weight/density requirement
Yes it would. A gallon is 8lbs. 4.5lbs per gallon of ice cream means 43.75% of that gallon of ice cream is weightless IE is air.
That's not how density and mass work. Gallon is a volume measurement. A gallon of water specifically weighs 8 pounds, but a gallon of mercury weighs 114 pounds. All things considered, cream is probably more dense than water, but could be less.
>That's not how it works except that it is!!!

I bought this and spent a month and a half eating it because my wife doesn’t like mint and I don’t eat ice cream

>"low air ice cream" is gelato
No it fucking isn't. Why the fuck do Anglos always feel the need to hyperforeignise fucking everything? It's just our word for ice cream. All ice cream.
iirc it's specifically the one labelled "frozen dessert" not "ice cream" that's fake.
This some flavors are "frozen dessert" some are "ice cream"
Breyers makes both regular ice cream and low calorie frozen dessert varieties. Both are dogshit but they do have regular ice cream.
The only good ice cream that's widely available is Haagen Dazs. The reason it comes in a small container is because it isn't half air like most other ice creams are.

You are such a classlet anon. The fast food threads are probably more your speed.
I wouldn't trust homosexuals to make my ice cream
>Ben and Jerry's is good
Eh, I hate all the shit they add to it. Were it just the ice cream without all the bullshit, is be happy. Less chunky more monkey.

Letting them control your life at all after you are broken up is cucked beyond belief
ice cream is a food of vice and people are acting like they're too good to have ice cream with matching additives?fuck the ben and jerry haters, pretentious cunts.
It's not a food of vice unless you are some fat nagger eating a whole tub of it at once. There's nothing wrong with a little ice cream you lardbrain.
Gelato is reduced fat ice cream that isn't whipped as much, so the lack of fat is counter-acted by the reduced amount of air.
See
, you stupid fucking EOS retard.

don't blame kraft, blame unilever. Unilever is the parent company.

Would you?
It's adorable how the AI starts out writing text perfectly and then just gets lazy and trails off
I love Pleetul-ocelas morle
Thank christ I'm a leaf and can eat proper cheap ice cream.

The Target brand "Favorite Day" ice cream is actually really good for my fellow burgers out there.
Afraid so
How do I make good ice cream? Like, being able to sell ice cream enough to quit my wageslave cagie job
Buy a motorized ice cream machine, use real cream not whipping cream, make an egg custard, and find the right amount of xanthan gum to make it work in small batches
Get a deep freeze cooler
Disregard big brands and eat whatever is semi-local. I live in leafland so I eat Kawartha's.
For me, its Turkey Hill
