silicone polydimethylsiloxone is a poly which by definition is a plastic

          Anonymous

Silicone is very stable at a molecular level so it doesn't interact with the body in the same manner as traditional plastic.
So bunching them together is disingenuous

            Anonymous

The plasticizers added to it are just as stable as others, which is to say they will readily leech into things.
Just because they are less well documented doesn't mean it isnt a problem.

I know you’re fricking moronic for believing that. Even if it was some exotic material that defied the laws of physics, they certainly aren’t claiming it’s also invulnerable, so you’re still ingesting microplastics even if it isn’t leeching (which it is). Just use glass, moron.

Your clothes are probably mostly plastic unless you’re insane but expensive plastic free clothing. What about your toothbrush? The bristles are plastic. Everything you do is plastic which makes hyper focusing on silly food containers ridiculous. Storing food in a glass container with a plastic lid isn’t going to transfer lid plastic into the food.

I don’t believe you. If you live in a first world country avoiding plastic is impossible. It’s in everything. Hell, even aluminum cans are lined with plastic. Even glass containers have plastics on the inside of the lids. You can’t avoid it. All the food you eat is contaminated with micro-plastics.

I'm not really challenging it because I think it's prudent, I just think it's taken to far to the extreme
A plastic lid that has little to no contact with food and definitely not while reheating isn't going to do jack to the stuff I'm about to injest. Yes, I still buy soda in cans; no I don't buy/wear polyester clothes. Half the food I have comes packaged in some sort of plastic. I store and transport all food I've cooked or want to reheat in glass. Do I realize plastic is probably bad for me? Yeah probably; I just do my best to minimize my exposure since avoiding it outright seems pretty impossible and nearing mental illness
