why do people always pour so much sauce? you will barely put a dent in that cup after eating all the dumplings. it's better to just dribble it onto the dumplings

      wrong sauce.
      2/10

      >onto
the sauce is for the meat inside the pot sticker, not the noodle of the outside.
you break the sticker open first.

        subjectively*
I prefer steamed. You prefer fried. That's okay.

          >subjectively
you'd like to think that so you have a bit of "my opinions matter" going on, but no, your opinions don't matter.
objectively was the correct word used.

I've eaten more dumplings than you, so if we're going to play that game, then my opinion matters more than yours, buddy. : )

Actually steamed is objectively better than fried dumplings. Fried is only good sometimes if you do it right but steamed guarantees is always great even if you suck at cooking

it's still too much unless you are also going to pour the sauce into the dumpling

I could. I like too much sauce/seasonings. When I go home I'm gonna make a bowl of noodles and I'm going to dump furikake on them until the top of the noodles aren't visible.

I make Chinese dumplings a few times a year. It's a great project if you have a friend or family over. I boil them to cook them and it's a perfectly good way to eat them.

They freeze well too so you can make huge batches and eat them whenever you want.

How do you get good at making the little pleats other than git guding? Are the one way pleats easier than bilateral or something? It's not too bad really, but it's not perfectly consistent either. Grape leaves are one thing because you're just going for a consistent thickness. Dumplings are irritating because the wrappers are uniform shape and thickness, yet they don't all rook the same.

For me, it's the McChicken. The best fast food sandwich. I even ask for extra McChicken sauce packets and the staff is so friendly and more than willing to oblige.

One time I asked for McChicken sauce packets and they gave me three. I said, "Wow, three for free!" and the nice friendly McDonald's worker laughed and said, "I'm going to call you 3-for-free!".

Now the staff greets me with "hey it's 3-for-free!" and ALWAYS give me three packets. It's such a fun and cool atmosphere at my local McDonald's restaurant, I go there at least 3 times a week for lunch and a large iced coffee with milk instead of cream, 1-2 times for breakfast on the weekend, and maybe once for dinner when I'm in a rush but want a great meal that is affordable, fast, and can match my daily nutritional needs.

I even dip my fries in McChicken sauce, it's delicious! What a great restaurant.

Sort of relevant to this thread.
I got a rice cooker with a steamer.

Can you cook frozen dumplings in there while it's cooking rice? Or do you have to do the dumplings seperately?

Maybe I should try and make dumplings again, I tried once and it didn't go as I hoped. I think I kinda goofed the packaging of the dumpling with it not being firm enough.
Would you people say purely steamed are better or is it better with some time in the pan?

I think you'd get a resounding "In the pan" since it really does add another layer of flavor.
You should try 'em again, watch some videos first, and go ahead and screw up the first few.
A set of good bamboo steamers is only `$20 too, you may want to try Bao as well.
(Cabbage leaves make great steamer liners)
