The reason water bugs are good to eat is because they have more meat than land bugs.

so you're saying if land bugs were bigger you would eat them?

        Anonymous

I mean, you'd kind of have to at a certain point. At that size they'd be displacing other meat sources from the environment.

If i can remove the shell and get at meaty innards without having to chew exoskeleton into sandy mush along with the meat, most likely, yes. Sea bug meat is sort of sweat and nice tasting. It can even be pretty gud as fresh water stuff with sufficient seasoning and/or butter.

Sweet, even. Sweat, yeah, not so appetizing (some freaks will disagree).

Honestly so long as it was healthy, probably. Although I feel like a rat is a very inefficient source of meat. Maybe you could use them for a soup like rabbits.

The most interesting thing about pigs to me is that they revert to boars if they get out into the wild. Not in a few generations or anything, the same pig will basically become a boar, they grow tusks and darker hair.

Apes are hard to come by as a meat source. It's not like we have tons of em just waiting to get shot and harvested. Though there are definitely some cultures that eat them.

    >Behold I have given you every herb bearing seed upon the earth, and all trees that have in themselves seed of their own kind, to be your meat: And to all beasts of the earth, and to every fowl of the air, and to all that move upon the earth, and wherein there is life, that they may have to feed upon.

I've heard this interpreted as saying we should only eat plants, as well as an interpretation that every single living thing exists for our consumption. If the former is true, then no I'm not eating bugs. If the latter, then I am going to eat any creeping thing that approaches my mouth.

Chitin is carcinogenic in humans. Not a big deal with big bugs, because people just don't eat the shell. But it's much harder to avoid with the small bugs.
