Are there any good McRib copycats out there? And are there any good frozen boneless rib patties in grocery stores?

I'm craving a McRib but they're currently out of season at McDonalds.

When do they usually come in season?

Ain't it the same as every other rib-shaped pork patty? Just buy the Fast Bites ones from the dollar store and some barbecue sauce.

I find the frozen texture is a bit mushy if you don't put them on the frying pan first. Or maybe you can try baking them. I only cooked it once so I don't know what im talking about, but just be wary.

You're supposed to bake them. I wouldn't try microwaving even if I had the fancy convenience store microwaves every microwave instruction is written for.

Yeah now I'm much wiser. If I were eating these today I would pop them in the toaster oven and it shuold come out great. A lot of the frozen boxes say not to put it in there but I've never seen an issue with my toaster oven yet.

What about using the oven and putting it on broil?

Nuke them for like a minute or two less than directions. Then pan fry them with some onions. Then pour in the sauce from the pan. Use Hawaiian Sub Rolls. Add Cheese if desired.

If traveling to another country is an option then OP could just go to Germany. McDonalds there have mcribs year-round.

Make a trip across the border sometime and bring some american foods back. Just put it in the trunk.

I go to the States maybe once every year or two, and I've definitely considered doing this, but it's a 2-hour ferry trip, and several hours of driving on top of that. I've never kept frozen food in a cooler that long. Could my patties stay frozen on such a journey?
I always make sure to try some food that we don't have here, every time I go. Last time I tried In-N-Out Burger. It was okay. I may try Taco Bell next, as I'm always seeing Americans talking about it, though you're usually discussing it in negative terms. I've never seen a Taco Bell anywhere in Canada. Instead we have Taco Time, which sucks ass. They don't use any seasoning for their ground beef except maybe salt and pepper, and I'm not even sure about that.

          >I've never kept frozen food in a cooler that long. Could my patties stay frozen on such a journey?
they would remain at a safe temperature. only real issue is cardboard items would become soggy and that part of the packaging would have to be thrown out.

I believe local mexican restaurants are always superior. I don't think you're missing out on TacoBell but you should indulge on your curiosity and judge for yourself.

Here in Connecticut, Nardelli's does a boneless BBQ rib sandwich that beats the pants off McRibs. And you can get them with whatever toppings you want. Good stuff.

was so pissed that the mcrib spurned almost the whole entire northeast last year. nyc, none. new england, none. your best bet was some shitstain town in like western PA or whatever

If you have any ampm convenience stores in your area they sell a rib sandwich that's better than McDonalds.

ive gotten an imitation one at either loves truck stop or certain cumberland farms gas stations im pretty sure. they were actually better than a mcrib but had that same authentic mcrib processed low quality experience.

the on cor bbq frozen stuff tastes similair too, kinda wish they just sold just the patties and not a tray of barbeque sauce, its annoying having to cook 6 at a time and saving some in the fridge. also put a pickle on them its worth it
