I dont know we dont have them in my country, probably overrated

I mean, it's just greasy fast food.
But given the choice, I'd happily take Whataburger over any of the other chains.

They are a singular step above Wendy's.
What makes Whataburger good is that they are a 24H fast food spot.

    My typical 4AM order
    >Chili-cheese burger meal w/ onion ring and strawberry malt shake
    >2 Sausage taquitos - ranchero style

As a Texan, they're overrated as fuck. Charge you an arm & a leg for cheese on the burgers, then they make you pay for cheese on chorizo & eggs tacos even if you don't want it (which no one in their right minds would put cheese on a chorizo & eggs taco). Still have all the other fast food problems too, so even a half-decent item is still a 50:50 for being an absolute shit waste of money because some degenerate took out his shitty life on your order. They also got rid of the mushroom & swiss, which was their best item. Oh, and their chili they had on specialty items a bit ago? Have you ever had *dry* chili? Fucking disgusting. Lately the only thing they've had for their limited time item... fucking bacon. That's it.

Fuck wataburger, you overrated pieces of shit. Disastrous consequences for the human race. They're number 2 on my fastfood shitlist. At least I'm still not expected to tip at their drive-thru like Starbucks.

No, but Starbucks employees expect it, even at the drive-thru, so I just don't go there anymore.

When I was a kid, in the 90's, they had the fucking best kids meal toys. I got a fuckin' Ultrahand from there once.

Found a pic, apparently they were giving these out in 96.

weird... I'm 40 and lived in texas until I was 8. I miss Whataburger. When I tell northern people about how good it is, I say, "when I was a kid McDonalds and BK gave away toys and I still preferred Whataburger"
they didn't give away toys in my timeline. or my parents lied

Never had ot with raw onion, It comes with grilled onions when I get it. Sometimes the burger doesnt have enough of that creamy sauce and I get sad.

    moderately overrated
better than national/international fast food places like McDonalds but worse than In-N-Out, Five Guys, Shake Shack, etc.
    t. just moved to Austin and have all of the regional burger places here

Slightly overrated, but they got hurt when Whataburger got acquired by a Chicago investment firm. Great Texas food, now they're a good regional chain.

      >In-N-Out, Five Guys
      Overrated and overpriced, respectively

Whataburger at least has regional charm. I don't know other places where I can get chicken tenders with gravy or actually decent rodeo burgers.

I can't make much of a better comparison for modern Whataburger, though, since I've been stuck with McDonald's and Wendy's in rural Ohio for 3-4 years.

            With Toast too.

But I haven't had them in probably 15 years so I couldn't tell you what the quality is like these days.

They are legit good, but holy shit for that money I could get a burger at a proper sit-down restaurant.

There is a well-run one in Clyde, TX that is worth the stop. Went to one this weekend in Southaven, MS and it was ok. "OK" is apparently a pretty high bar for Southaven. I went into two places with a "B" health grade.
Went to a Burger King where I took a piss, then the sink handle came off in my hand. Was gonna buy a bottle of water or something to pay for the use of the facilities, and a sheboon croaked "We drive-thru only" at me. Nice of them to open the lobby so I could piss, I guess.
Had a decent po'boy at a place called Red Anchor. It seemed to have mostly black staff but they were higher functioning. Lot of filth, lots of run-down places, lots of empty warehouses with empty docks. If that's what your town looks like, the Whataburger isn't likely to be anything special either.

Most 5 goys I've seen some even have drive-thrus. If I gotta go in somewhere to get a burger I'd rather go to Denny's

Neither would I. That place is a family establishment, an American icon. I just like to take people their and make them watch me eat 12 sunny side up eggs (the build you own grandslam with 2 eggs for the 4 options, then use both additional add-on options for 2 more eggs each)

            Anonymous

You can do that at your own private domicile with your own eggs without having to pay 15.99+tax and also it would be a safer environment (to shoot up heroin)

If it weren't for people like me going to Dennys, then people like you would feel safe to. Take you and ur Gucci heroin to IHOP, ya pussy. Bet the cook at IHOP doesn't even keep narcan in his car. At Dennys, they care, & the dbl cheeseburger(add extra patty) with seasoned fries is the best chain burger this side the mason-dixon

Reigns far above any other chain, even the "good" ones. They're the best and most reliable. That said, its mythical status is somewhat overblown and lots of people feel like the quality has slipped since it got sold. One thing I'd like to see is a bit of menu diversification. Like how Wendy's has a baked potato or you can get white rice at Jack in the Crack. Also, the app needs some work. There are lots of things you can't specify on there, like fries or patty with no salt / seasoning.

Their Chili Cheese burger is truly a monster of a burger, i've been eating burgers and fast food my whole life but that burger is the first one that makes it hard to eat completely and it really fucks up your stomach, its so good though

They're better than in-n-out. Whataburger has sizeable meat patties meanwhile I-N-O have small Micky D's sized double hamburger patties. The best thing about I-N-O is their lower prices, but that's about it.

    Whataburger > In-N-Out

Whataburger doesn't melt their cheese and pays minimum wage. In N Out is far better. There is no comparison and I say this as someone who despises California

Well I don't get cheese on my burgers so I don't give a fuck about that. Plus I don't work there so I don't have to worry about the pay. I just know their HAMBURGERS (no cheese) is superior and much larger than I-N-O's puny burgers.

it's just like every fast food place
when it's hot and fresh and they aren't using 6 months old oil to cook the fries in it hits the spot
when it's been sitting under a hot light for 2 hours it's trash
I either get the patty melt or the jalapeno burger with a large fry and Hispanicy ketchup
they have decent breakfast too, I get either biscuits and gravy or their honey butter biscuit

neither. they are definitely better than any other fast food burger joint out there.

if you get in n out with mustard in lieu of their burger sauce, the differences between them and whataburger are negligible. in n out fries are off. not sure how to describe them. whataburger fries are pretty much like MagDonna's fries
5 guys is expensive and bland. they do have awesome fries.

        Anonymous

        >in n out fries are off. not sure how to describe them

In-n-Out uses Kennebec potatoes for their fries, and they're just not a good frying potato. I've been to local places that use the same potatoes, and their fries have the same problems.

      Anonymous

Not a damn thing. They're all better than McDonald's, but if you're eating there it's probably not because you're looking to go out of your way, and they're not really worth going out of your way for, so you're not missing anything

  28. 1 month ago
    Anonymous

It really depends on the store. Some are on point, some are not. The general rule for Whataburger is if it's busy it's good, but that can also be deceiving. Sometimes when they suck they can look busy because it takes forever and cars back up.

In the last two years though the quality has gone down. They changed their onion rings and a few other little things oh and their chicken is shit.

overrrated by texans, underrated by non-texans. far better than mcdicks, burgerkuck, wendys and whoever, slightly worse than 5 guys but cheaper, equal to in n out but bigger and slightly more expensive. open 24 hours is a plus so overall can't complain and im happy there is one near me
