        >cilantro dawg
        when did Mexico conquer Australia?

Looks Mexican with all that cilantro and onion.

Holy cringe learn how to cut cilantro.

wait is there a special way to cut cilantro?

The later cilantro is added to a dish the more finely it should be chopped. If it's a garnish then you mince it. Hole leaves and stems thrown on top of a hit dog is sacrilege.

        It's called coriander morons

It ranges from bad to top-shelf but the best Mexican food is the comfort food, not the fancy stuff
        >tamales
        >enchiladas
        >tacos
        >pozole
        >menudo (controversial)

        >rellenos

There's no such thing as "top-shelf" Mexican food. There's really only two cultures that have actually developed haute cuisine: France and the southern mountainous region around Sechuan/North Vietnam. All else is just derivative of this or pure peasant slop (no judgement some of its really good).

I'm a Merican Australian and can confirm Mexican food is really nice unless you go to an exceptionally bad place which I honestly think is rare.

In Australia none of these Mexican places register as Mexican at all to me. It's like, Mexican if Subway decided to do Mexican.

          So it's Chipotle?

I am American born and raised, loving all this freedom is how I spent my days. But recently a new fast food Mexican place opened up near me, in the Chicagoland area. I looked into it and it is actually based out of Australia. It is called Guzman y Gomez. It is not bad for fast food mexican, similar to Chipotle in quality but feels a bit lighter. I went to the restaraunts opening day and they had what I presume a higher up from Aussie Corporate there based on the accent. And yes, if you are wondering they have Avocado Toast.

Holy shit a Guzman opened in Chicago???

That is fricking wild. It took them quite awhile but they thrived eventually and now there's a ton of them. Nice to see they're doing well enough to try and crack the Merrican market.

Okay so Guzzie's pretty good just because it's decent quality food and it's usually pretty fresh, although it never really feels like authentic Mexican flavours to me. I still like it because I've become fond of some of their offerings, but when I'm craving actual Mexican food I can get closer if I go elsewhere.

              >Holy shit a Guzman opened in Chicago???
Yeah I think there are 4 of them in all of America right now, and they are all in the Chicagoland area. I'm honestly pleased with them for fast food. Seems like good ingredients and lighter than other fast food places. I'd much rather spend $10 to get a burrito from there than more for some slop value meal from McDonald's.

100%. the chicken is great and they grill it up from raw right when you order it, love that smokey charred chicken. but even their cheep standard ground beef is really nice. dammit you're making me want Guzman

                >and they grill it up from raw right when you order it
oh shit, no wonder it took a few minutes in drive-thru for my orders. I honestly didn't know and now I don't so much care for the wait.

Mexican cuisine in Australia today is just subpar and lacking when compared to other cuisines available here. The few that used to exist that were good 25 or so years ago have all shut down.
