BEC

Has anyone outside of New York/New Jersey tried one of these breakfast beauties? I was shocked when I found out they weren't popular even in other parts of the US. Bacon, eggs, and cheese (BEC) on a kaiser roll, which I prefer with poppy seeds. Add salt, pepper, and ketchup (BECSPK) to make it perfect. I mean if you have McDonald's or Dunkin where you live they may offer something similar, but if you haven't tried it from a NY/NJ deli then you have to at least make it yourself in the morning, especially with a cup of coffee.

LI here, yeah some people like it on bagels and I've tried it and it's pretty good, but I feel like I have to be well-prepared, it's very filling. I don't even know what a pork roll is.

Jersey gay again, I'm in Utah and you can get pork roll at Smith's here. It's everywhere now, this is not 1990.

Your spread looks you were feeding a lot of hungover people. Bravo.

The fact that this on a bagel and it's soaked in ketchup leads me to believe it's NYC or LI. The bagel is just too much and the israelites have their nice lox and capers for that.

The density of the dough makes this mess of a sandwich even more of a mess when you eat it. Become civilized.

I would eat the shit out of it with a pounding hangover, no judgement, or questions asked. But here on /ck all we do is judge.

            >The fact that this on a bagel and it's soaked in ketchup leads me to believe it's NYC or LI
The picture is from a bistro in NJ I frequent. A bagel is much more appealing than a kaiser roll for a breakfast sandwich. South Jersey is closer to Philly so it has better food culture, North Jersey is closer to NYC so it has buttholes who can't drive.

Do what you want, but you have to agree it's a mess.

South Jersey is less crowded, so likely a better driving experience.

I'm from Morris county, we speed, get the frick out of the left lane when Joey and Vinny are on our ass in daddy's white Mercedes, and oppress minorities.

If you want to find people who can't drive, visit Connecticut, I've seen more accidents live there than anywhere in America.

Or take the thruway at any section with two lanes and wonder why two drivers with NY plates feel the need to pace each other side by side for miles.

OP here, yeah a bagel is such an extra challenge, it taste's great and yes it's much more appealing, but it's so filling, that's why I prefer the roll. And yes the ketchup is something else to consider. Ideally you want to find a deli that by default makes the perfect bacon to egg to cheese to ketchup ratio that is to your liking.

I have to say the best bagels I've had were in Staten Island, and the best pizza consistently. NJ can have good pizza but you need either a young stoner or angry old Italian running the place.

Bagels are hit or miss, you need to find the place the israelites go to or rabbi blessed, or both. But I'm going lox, cream cheese, capers and red onion, or some derivation of that. The real israelite places can't make a pec or bec or they would need to burn the place down.

God I want to bash every New Yorker in the head. No your magic water and greasy middle eastern bodega workers don’t make a bacon egg and cheese taste any different. The bacon, eggs, and cheese aren’t even sourced in New York, it makes no fricking difference

It's not the water. I've lived in Manhattan and Philadelphia, another place where BECSPK is common and popular. I don't know exactly why but the two taste completely different. You wouldn't think so, but they fricking do. My guess is the decades of grease on the unwashed cooktop.

Specifically bacon, egg, and cheese on a roll.
Yeah I get it's simple, that's the point, but you can spit and hit 10 delis in NY/NJ where it's the standard, I've been to other states and they don't even really have delis. I don't know if it's common in other countries. And I mean some delis don't make it as good as others, when I bite into the OP pic I feel nothing but love for the chickens, pigs, cows and wheat that make such a beauty possible.

No bacon, egg, cheese on a roll this morning…

Day 1 of an old school no-sugars, no-carbs, only healthy fats diet. 6 small healthy meals/snacks day and a lean and green (6oz meat and salad) at night. Not drinking much alcohol at all, so to quit altogether is no big deal. Back to Sashimi, and NO FOOD AT ALL AFTER 8pm.

I’ve been feeling like ass since putting on 40lbs over the last 2 years…Lower back fricked up, can’t bend straight over to tie my sneakers without breathing hard, feels like I’m laying face first on a basketball if I try to get a tan on my fat ass…

A high weight of 250 today folks. It will only go down from here.

ANYONE CAN DO IT. Takes will power and the desire to feel healthy overriding the desire to eat food that tastes GREAT. I quit smoking and (backmin the day) blow…cold turkey. Just stopped at will.

If you follow this plan and get your body into “fat burning mode” (takes about 2 weeks of hardcore diet adjustment) WITH NO CHEATING…and the weight will fall off of you like a terminal AIDS patient.

        (No offense AIDS patients….)

        Goal- 210lbs…

PS- I cover my fatness up well. Being 6’ 1” helps big time.

Good for you Anon. Honestly I've been laying cutting back on the deli BECSPK for a while due to trying to lose weight. I've been making steak and eggs for breakfast recently and it fills me up enough that I don't need to eat much for the rest of the day.

I think eggs and meat are a healthy breakfast, I guess the cheese, bread, and ketchup add a shitload of unnecessary calories. But I mean for healthy people, the BEC/BECSPK is delicious and everyone should try it.

        >bacon, egg, and cheese on a roll
Yeah, it's called being somewhat poor, or in college, or just a normal person and you look in the fridge and see bacon, eggs, cheese and some leftover rolls from dinner last night and your girlfriend is asleep naked in bed and you're hungover but horny because that's how it works but you can't just wake her up to frick, I mean you could and she'd love it but you'd have to play the dominant and bend her to your sexual will because she's sleepy and cranky but you're hungover and that's effort and things would go a lot more smoothly if you woke her up with something to eat and then fricked her so you make do with what you have and yeah, pretty sure everyone in the USA has stumbled on a bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich on a roll once or twice at least and it's pretty good and specifically a kaiser roll because that's the basic grocery store bakery hamburger bun/roll that's usually on sale, often with onions. But maybe there is no girlfriend and it's a wife who's sleeping or the kids aren't awake yet thank God, and it's Saturday and you just throw whatever together because frick them let them all sleep and it just so happens that what you have is a BEC on a roll which is a good thing because it tastes good so yeah, it's a thing and you don't have to be some annoying yankee to enjoy it or go to some overpriced deli or bodega or do some Ocky thing it's just a normal thing that most people do since forever.

Get one with pork roll or Taylor ham (same thing, just parlance choice from North or South Jersey) and a high quality hot sauce. Hand cut from the huge sausage log is the best option.

The trash American cheese is comfy, but you're better off with a quality provolone or swiss.

A high quality Kaiser bun is a must, I prefer seeded. I'm not sure what they call those in the flyovers.

    >t. Jersey gay

Best ones I know of are at Johnny pork roll in Red Bank, and Frank's in Asbury Park. Pic related, from Frank's.

Some people add salt/pepper/ketchup but you've got plenty of salt already and I find ketchup peasant tier vs a good hot sauce.

You're basically saying Jersey Mike's is a comparable sub shop to a mom and pop place in the tri state area. Or that Domino's is quality pizza. Or Einstein Brother's is as good as some israeli bagel place. Or a lobster roll in Iowa is as good as one in Nantucket.

No kidding, it's not a hard concept, but real restaurants/delis can make stuff better than you can purchase from a soulless capitalistic mega corporation.
McDonald's anything is and always will be bottom tier but consistent mediocre food.
