this! the food pyramid is exactly the diet used to fatten hogs, and if you google it, way back in the early 1900's people fed skim milk to hogs because it helped them gain weight.

Nobody ever cared about or followed the food pyramid and it's weird to see it being given more importance now than it ever got back then.

What the frick? Leftists are the ones who follow the science and are anti-capitalist, which is the entire reason any of that shit happened. It's people on the right who don't give a shit about the facts and will just frick everyone over depending on which lobbyist has the biggest check. Who do you think passed a law to allow pizza to be counted as a vegetable in school lunches? It sure as frick wasn't anyone on the left.

Should the general public eat less meat?

                Anonymous

The general public should eat healthier, but that's not tied directly to the amount of meat that gets consumed. We know some things are better than other things when eaten regularly, but there's no real scientific data for something as broad as "more meat good" or "less meat good". That's a dumb question if you're talking about nutrition.

I do think people should generally eat less meat, but that's for completely different reasons.

I'm well aware that there are a million studies out there coming to every possible conclusion. I wasn't asking for the one you happen to like. That was my point. Nutritional science isn't advanced enough yet to really provide any broad, sweeping guidelines like cutting out entire categories of food from our diets.

It's simple, eat shit that tastes good, as long as it wasn't "processed" in order to taste good first.

that's basically the way I will be eating from now on.
If a food or ingredient is something I can make without special chemicals and processes I will eat it.

        don't care about "organic".

        example:
I can make butter so butter is ok to eat.
I can't make margarine so frick that shit.

Meat is good for you, but it's very easy to get protein without eating meat. Eggs, dairy, bone broth(doesn't count as meat) are the best

The best source of anything, for humans, is fruit. Raw veggies are second. Beans and legumes are okay, but not ideal. Spinach is probably the raw food highest in protein. Popeye ate it for a reason. Animals much bigger and stronger than us get strong eating by eating fruit, leaves and herbs, but the idiots here will tell you anything that doesn't eat meat is weak. "Protein" itself, as it's used in our modern context, really just means MEAT. So don't worry about vegan "protein." Carbohydrates - the body's fuel - fiber - which cleans out the digestive system - and water - which hydrates the body - are the 3 essential nutrients.

Popeye loves the spinach. And his wife's name is Olive Oil.
Totally not another FDA food pyramid social engineering tactic though.
Eat canned spinach, chud. Eat more grains and seed oil. Toot toot!
