yes it's called bread and circuses, you might remember it from middle school

          Anonymous

How do you actually verify what is a bread and circus act employed by the powers that be and what is an entertainment product which comes to exist organically because of demand for it and economic incentive to capitalize on that demand? You could claim absolutely anything which people enjoy is a bread and circus circus act regardless of actual legitimacy. You've created a style of argument where the existence of bread and circuses as a concept serves as your evidence something in particular is one.

Thin crust is common to any shitty flyover state you can name.
And it is terrible in every single one.
Cheap bars don't let dough rise/freeze it poorly so all the yeast dies, and then cook it in low temperature ovens so it never gets any oven spring.

Detroit Style Pizza is a pizza that is baked in a 'pan' or shape, and is originally descended from the Sicilian pan pizza 'sfincione'. Apparently a Sicilian migrant would bake his wife's dough and found no better option than to use a steel pan from his workplace in the car factory.

NY pizza is real pizza. When folks think about pizza, they still imagine NY pizza. Everyone else tries to copy or improve on it, but all have failed. Even when most Europeans think of pizza, they think of NY pizza. When your Kebab place makes Kebab pizza, they always aim for a NY style pizza as a base. Chicago is the one that adds the qualifier "deep dish", implying the default is NY style. NY style isn't called "thin dish". No style has ever become as ubiquitous as NY's and likely none ever will. The recipie was optimized and perfected the moment it landed on the shores of NY, and none will surpass it.
