if you think about it, buying canned refried beans may be more economical than buying normal canned beans. there's no water to be drained, so the full net weight of the contents are to be used. a can of beans may be 10-40% useless water.

Anyway, I've tried making refried beans from scratch, they were pretty good but honestly? Rosarita beans taste better. And they're more smooth, it's impossible to get that beautiful smooth consistency without a food processor or something. I only own a potato masher.
