It's really a case by case thing. Depends where you go, what time of the week you go, who's filling the bag, etc
Some places it's a scam and not really worth it.
Other places give you better value. You just gotta try and see.
>try out a local cafe for £2.50 >get an egg sandwich, shitty salad that's no different from something you can buy from the supermarket, and a small slice of cake
>try medium-sized bakery chain for £4.50 >get a loaf of crusty bread, three sandwiches/baguettes, four donuts and a Belgian bun
>try local Costa Coffee for £3.50 >get six assorted vegan sandwiches/rolls plus one or two regular ones
I'd say the opposite, from my experience bakeries are the one place where you can get consistently good items and it'll still be relatively fresh due to how their stock is cycled
If you go for a chain place you'll almost always end up with the lame items nobody wants because that's all that's left
It's pretty bad.
You would think such a service would target the poor. Not at all. You can only pay via credit cards and shops who participate in this refuse to give out free or heavily reduced things near closing. Also not knowing what you get, introduces the problem that you only might get stale bread only
I live on Long Island and it's pretty much entirely filled with bagel shops and pizza places. There is a good deal near me, 3.99 for 14 bagels... But it's just my wife and I. Tried a bakery one once and it wasn't worth it. All the pizza places the pickups are for like 8-9PM so I've never done it.
gotta experiement to find good ones:
also, you have to migrate from poor neighborhoods to get the leftovers from wealthy neighborhoods. it works when your already in one of those areas out late.
my buddy makes a trips out to sf form oakland becuase of too good to go. he skips fare on bart, hangs around the city streets for a while walking/pedaling around, running into people, touching grass, etc, then he gets to one of the good 'too good to go' resturaunts, grabs the food, eats half, takes the other half home.
he says his fav is a mexican resturaunt that gives him two $12 burritos and a drink for $5.
personally i just go to pizza places and wait for free pizza with the rest of the homeless. also im paying to live somewhere with kitchen so i use the fuck out of it.
I just looked on the app, not much to choose from. Mostly just surprise bags of sides. I'll wait to see if more stores list stuff, but I'm not about to buy a bag full of old kale and coleslaw.
Was ok for a bit, then it became popular and rather than getting a huge bag of leftovers, you're one of 10 orders getting portioned out food.
Too many places are "1 cake, 1 sandwich, 1 pastry" for £3.50. It's not worth it. As someone who can't eat chocolate and doesn't like most fish, the frequency of tuna and sweetcorn sandwiches and pain au chocolates made it a waste of time.
I'm guessing it's better getting it from places that genuinely may have a lot of leftover stock that has to go and they can't reliably take loads of orders for it. Hotels that do breakfasts seem to be a good place.
scam, can't pay cash

i'm gonna try a 4 euro bag from a local bakery, will report back
they gave me 2 seeded baguettes, one loaf and two focaccia pieces
not sure if this was a fair deal
that seems like a great deal
t. burger
I would say that using too good to go for a bakery sounds like a terrible idea. Surely they'll all go stale immediately?

My point is this: Are you gonna eat five loaves of bread before tomorrow morning when it starts going stale?
fridge/freezer
revive with oven
You can fix stale bread by soaking it in water and putting it back in the oven.
That's what my dad told me earlier today, wtf.
What a weird soup.
Saved my fucking life as a student when I went on holiday to Norway without knowing how insanely expensive the country was
It's pretty bad.

cheap food if you're not picky. it's not inedible but it should be eaten same day or next day because the business is getting rid of it for a reason,

From the thumbnail, I thought that bowl of onions was a sea otter.
What the fuck is this. You just walk in there with that bag and random stores give you free food?

check out a rich neighborhood in your area. possibly much better results. problem is adjusting your schedule to make it out there
>look this up
>only available in massive cities
Woah, so everyone ITT is a homosexual?
No?
Nah, it's available in small towns too.

>only poke bowl shops near me use this
>get fish heads
Honestly don't know what I was expecting.
