Chicago food

Aside from overloaded hot dogs, revoltingly wet beef sandwiches, uninspiring sausage, and pizza casserole, what should I eat in this city?

I once had a 24 hour lay over in Chicago. I just ate at McDonald's.

The McDonalds at O'Hare is exceptional. Gigantic ass lineups during busy hours mean everything is as fresh as you can get it.

That's true. Chicago is the home of renowned Mexican-food chef Rick Bayless.

You know what I mean. Stuff from Singapore is not a native Chicago specialty (and "native" in this case means stuff that evolved throughout the decades from whatever immigrants came there)

Hadn't heard of it before, looked it up, they're shut down for the foreseeable future due to a fire last Thanksgiving. Prolly reopen soon but no ETA.

The schnitzel and goulash there is great, the beer is too, haven't tried anything else to be fair. Owner is a cool guy too, chatted and gave us free shots the two times I've been there

We're pretty proud of Lou Malnati's, Pizzeria Due, and Pequods, and with good reason.

If you want something else, fine, your loss. Go marvel over Costco's NY style pizza.
