Oh I wouldn't know then. I didnt start drinking stella til 2013. Couppe years ago they stopped importing it and started brewing it domestically and it's been a decline in quality ever since.
Huh, I am Belgian and yes Stella is one of my favorite beers. I checked the can it is 5.2% here.
STFU RETARD I was going to comment on pretentious people saying this is a shit beer but restrained myself and then I see this shit comment. Go have your fancy beer created by the monks oh wait it is not oh wait I know several people who work and own some of the biggest beer companies in the world actually the current owner of Boon put my PC together way back in 2007 when we were bros. So go suck a dick you pretentious boring homo. Go have your Duvel or Geuze you fucking midwit retard.

Now Duvel is shit, have to say. Would rather a stella any day. Is stella frowned upon because it's seen as the budweiser of europe or something? I don't understand why everyone on Culinaly turns their nose up to it.

and I'm unironically a close relative of the guy who's running Westmalle.
Stella is in the decent half of the Jupiler, Maes, Cristal tier of regular pils, but I absolutely fucking hate their pretending to be high-end international marketing; and the fucking kelkglazen.
Boerekes are shit too BTW. Those ribbed ones were exactly what it needed.

No everyone does. And it tastes way better out of a bottle and preferably 25cl over 33cl right? Working class people like Jupiler because of it's association with big soccer and pretentious middle class people like abdij beer or whatever. So they decided Stella must be shit since you know it is sold worldwide so "popular" and "commercial" it must be really shitty then. I'm sure there are plenty of Japanese soy guys working in a microbrewery or something who think commercial beers like Asahi suck for no other reason than to be elitist losers lol.
[...]
Yup, I fucking hate Duvel with a passion. It is the choice drink of degenerates who pretend to be cultured. It is extremely acidic and taste wise there is nothing special going on well not in the good sense of the word anyways. In short: Stella is frowned upon because it can be found anywhere and Belgians love nothing more than to hate on anything that is successful, popular, and widely available. It is common for people to have an oddly strong and vocal dislike for McDonalds for example. But they will still go to a shitty Frietkot to have food that is much worse taste and healthwise.
Duvel is indeed complete shit, but I dislike Stella because it's pretending to be something it's not; and Jupiler is slightly better imho, even though I don't watch soccer.

Like what the fuck does this have to do with anything? I swear to god butthurt vlamingen are hilarious. Such class insecurity(worthy of americans) and victim mentality.
for whatever reason it was my fave in my youth. but yeah it was probably only ever good from strasbourg or wherever its from. like i've never tried pabst or miller but i bet the brit version is shite compared to burger original
anyway i'm currently drinking a sidecar - 2 pts cognac, 1 pt cointreau, 0.5 pt lemon juice. pretty nice, recommend if you like sweet n sour kinda stuff
If Stella ever tasted good (in America, anyway) it was a long time ago. Like, pre-2007. As long as I've been drinking, it's tasted noticeably worse than cheaper domestics. Perfectly willing to believe it's different in Europe, though.
Very nice. I'm jealous. I just finished a pisco sour. Bottled lemon juice rather than fresh lime juice, because that was what was on hand. I used what tasted like a decent quality pisco, and it reinforced my view that fresh juice is more important than top shelf booze for cocktail quality.

Really? Like what?
It tastes the same as it has for the last 5 years or so.
It's you who has changed. It happens to me with lots of commercial beers known for their consistency.
Drink it every day, every 2nd day, every week for 3 years and all of a sudden it tastes different. You can swear there's an earthy aftertaste, did it always have that nasty sweetness?
>the flavor changed when they started brewing it domestically instead of importing it
this is pretty common with big international drinks. it will be the change in water source that is affecting the flavour. this is why mcdonald's has such a robust water filter in all their stores, to ensure all drinks taste the same worldwide.
I bought some Stella for the first time a few days ago, along with some Modelo Negra. Both decent beers but not as good as Yuengling (also they cost twice as much).
My dad went to Florida to see if he wanted to retire there. He said thats one of the best beers he's ever had. Feels bad man. Ive never been east of the mississippi
Yuengling isn't the beer to end all beers but its price to quality ratio is basically unbeatable. It's cheap as fuck and surprisingly good for the cost.

yuengling is decent but it isn't god's gift to man. with that said, it is interesting how american amber/reds are way more of a thing east of the mississippi than they are west of it... yuengling, brooklyn lager, eliot ness, abita amber are all popular examples of the style that you can't get over here.
>lager
I gotta try a good lager some day, but honestly I'm extremely disgusted by "estrella damm" which I have drank liters and liters, fucking trash beer
I'll never understand the hype with this caramel coloring, corn adjunct meme beer. I feel like normies end up thinking it's good just because of the reddish hue it has from the artificial coloring. You guys know that doesn't come from the malt right?
I avoid beers that are brewed under license outside their country of origin.
You're just buying the brand, the product is essentially fake.
Buy local beers, or genuine imported beers if you want quality.
I last had Rolling Rock in late 2007, the Angry Nint...Video Game Nerd inspired the purchase, the label was painted on, I hear it's a sticker now....shame.
I remember it being extremely watery. I need to retry it now.
anyone remember those old /b/ threads where you could get custom engraved Stella chalices? i got like 3 of them made, i still have 2 of them, gave one to my friend but he said it broke this year when he moved 🙁

Asahi does suck though. Worst Japanese megabrew by far.
Macros in UK have been steadily lowering their ABV, partly for 'health' reasons, and partly to keep up with tax increases.
Same thing for spirits, big brands recently dropped from 40% to 38%
>Did anyone else notice that stella taste different lately?
no, I don't think so
definitely and i heard they're giving half their assets to ukraine and, you won't believe it, the other half to israel!
Its been a bit shit since they knocked it down from 5.2% tbqhwyf
When was that
had to google it, 2008 here in blighty
Oh I wouldn't know then. I didnt start drinking stella til 2013. Couppe years ago they stopped importing it and started brewing it domestically and it's been a decline in quality ever since.

Bud Light
Are you joking?
i never liked it. these meme euro beers suck
give me something quaffable like sam adams
It tastes the same as it has for the last 5 years or so.

Part of life bro.
Cant be right. My dad says it taste different too.
Your father isn't immune to the passage of time either. You and he will come to realise this sooner than you would like.
No man, I'm pretty sure the flavor changed when they started brewing it domestically instead of importing it

>t. Anheuser-Busch spokesman
it was never good
it's american stlye pisswater slop for people who want beer but don't like the taste beer
for me, it is canadian-brewed Sapporo
They started brewing it in LA and became disgusting
I bought some Stella for the first time a few days ago, along with some Modelo Negra. Both decent beers but not as good as Yuengling (also they cost twice as much).
Cant get yuengling on the west coast
My condolences anon
My dad went to Florida to see if he wanted to retire there. He said thats one of the best beers he's ever had. Feels bad man. Ive never been east of the mississippi
They have a brewery in Florida coincidentally. Hopefully they'll expand their distribution more in the future.
Oh gross, red ales suck
not a red ale, an amber lager. (red and amber are used interchangably for the american style.) it's more similar to a vienna lager than anything
Ive had American made vienna "style" lagers. I havent liked them. But my interaction with them has been limited
>yuengling is decent but it isn't god's gift to man
At the rate that decent beers are disappearing, it is.
Also I realized the Yuengling in that pic is in a Stella Artois glass, lol
>lager

Sorry you have shitty taste bro. I don't care what fucking color it is btw.
Man i thought it was just me, i got a bottle at a restaurant the other day and it tasted more like a Heineken. Wtf happened
Changed brewing location. Thats my guess at least. Americans cant brew for shit
Couldn't tell - it's been shit since AB bought it.
I avoid beers that are brewed under license outside their country of origin.
You're just buying the brand, the product is essentially fake.

They used to be imported 🙁
If you refuse to drink the local brewed shit they will give up and just sell the imports. That's what happened here.
This is reminding me of how rolling rock was apparently decent before it got bought out
How long ago was that
In 2006 when they got bought out
I last had Rolling Rock in late 2007, the Angry Nint...Video Game Nerd inspired the purchase, the label was painted on, I hear it's a sticker now....shame.
I remember it being extremely watery. I need to retry it now.

I can not remember the last time I bought Stella. Can't even remember the last time I saw it advertised.
Thats odd. Am I the only person who likes stella?
No everyone does. And it tastes way better out of a bottle and preferably 25cl over 33cl right? Like /b/, it was never good.
It has been shit for a long time now in the UK. At least a decade. I'd take it over most other supermarket swill, but that's not saying much
UK version is 4.6% ABV apparently? Wikipedia says the original is 5.2, and in the US it's 5.0
Macros in UK have been steadily lowering their ABV, partly for 'health' reasons, and partly to keep up with tax increases.
Same thing for spirits, big brands recently dropped from 40% to 38%
>they started brewing it in St Louis
Let me get this straight. They brew it here but we still get charged import beer prices for it?
