Sure. Sausage, egg and cheese on some kind of bread are going to taste good no matter who inspired you to make it.

I don't really even know why bacon was ever considered as a serious replacement for ham, canadian ham, or sausage.
Now if they had gotten rid of the bacon and simply used bacon grease instead of butter, now THAT would be something I could get behind.
They could put the bacon on a cheeseburger or some other goyslop.

Sausage egg and cheese on an English muffin is one of my favorite breakfast meals. Does McDonald's deserve credit for that or was it popular before? Brits probably put beans on theirs.

The McMuffin was invented in 1972 and was inspired by eggs benedict. It was originally served open faced with a pack of strawberry preserves and a knife, but the strawberry was unpopular in America.

I had some English muffins the other day with just butter and strawberry jam. It was really good -- better than toast or biscuits.

          >better than toast
I toasted them too... better than toasted cheap white bread.

I love trying new copy cat recipes
I also use a few on the regular, usually adding my own touch
egg mcmuffin is one of my favorite, because regular sliced ham works fine in place of Canadian bacon, plus over easy egg is way better than the ones McDs sells

I make my own breakfast sandwiches. I actually had a mcmuffin for the first time ever yesterday. It wasn't bad, but I don't know how people can buy this shit every day when it's cheaper to make the exact same thing at home in a few minutes.

at home its bit more expensive
that said its aways nice to add your own spin

Depends on how you shop. Sausage freezes well and you can get it on sale super cheap at times. I regularly see country sausage for under $3/lb. Of course you could also make sausage even better if you ground it yourself, but that's obviously some extra work and investment in a grinder/die. You can make buns or muffins or whatever from scratch for ridiculously cheap and they'll taste much better, but you can probably get frozen stuff in bulk that will still put you at well under $1 per sandwich total cost.

      My usual breakfast is:

      >egg
      >turkey bacon
      >American cheese
      >on an English muffin

I wager its about 550 calories and full of protein so it's a great way to start each morning

I only get breakfast at McDonald's if I'm driving to or from someplace. usually at the beginning of a road trip or hungover coming back from a party. and you'd be absurd to think that im going to have breakfast ingredients all the time.

a couple days ago I made another batch of a copycat buffalo sauce,
I almost never use it on wings.
but I got funky with it and subbed chicken fat for the butter.
so now it tastes like buffalo chicken sauce.
I'll definately be doing it again considering chicken fat needs used up in my house and butter is almost a dollar per stick

all the damn time, i even will oven bake a freezer hashbrown for 30min before making mine just so i can stick it between the bacon and egg. Sometimes i like to cook the breakfast sausage from the tube, but not cutting it into circles, spreading it into a meat mat, that will cook more flat and thin, you can cut it to bread size, cant stand how breakfast sausages come in thick pucks that never really fit right on anything. Ill thinly chop some onion before cracking the egg and breaking the yolk just to take it up a notch. WIth a fast food breakfast breaking $10 these days, the cost of a dozen high end eggs, you really appreciate the better ingredients and can make a weeks worth for like $20 easy, no need for a slow drive through.
