The Chinese use potatoes in many dishes. The prevalence is regional.

Only the British call them "tatties," anon. As in tatties and neeps(mashed turnips, wholly alien to Americans)

They do have spoons in china. They're used for soups and sauces.
The chinese invented the fork before europe to begin with.

Chankoro liars claim they invented everything, but it's always bullshit.

Needs a lot of water to produce, taters are easier to grow. The sinese love taters for that reason alone.

Yeah but I mean I was addressing OP's claim that you can't eat things like mashed potatoes with sticks. As long as it can clump together, it works fine. Also, stick-eater cultures use wrappers frequently which solves problems like this.

I lived in Chingchongland growing up. If they eat mash Western-style, it's with a spoon. Otherwise, there are fried mashed potato balls and pan fried mashed potato cakes that are pretty common.
Outside of mash, there are a number of braised potato dishes and I really like stir fried potatoes when I was growing up. You shred and salt some potato, soak in water, drain, squeeze dry of excess liquid and stir fry with garlic and whatever else. It's kind of conceptually similar to the American hash brown but has a taste and texture all its own.

honestly, asians dont know about mashed potato
i made it once for a japanese ex gf and her mind was fricking blown
they're 100% convinced that potatoes can only be used in stews and curries.
they dont know you can roast them or mash them.

There are Chinese and Korean mashed potato recipes and potato salad is commonly served with banchan so I'd be surprised if it's not a thing in Japan but I just checked the Japanese KFC menu and they don't serve it, so maybe it's not

That anon is bullshitting. It's true mashed potatoes are not common in Japan but to say the Japanese don't know potatoes can be mashed is an outright lie and reeks of ignorance. Potato salads are very common and you can get them from any convenience store and grocery.
