Yes, it takes just a few minutes and you get much more consistent results

Also easier to remove unwanted debris from the milling process.

I got gifted a rice maker recently and only then did I learn you're supposed to wash your rice "to get out the extra starch." Why? I don't mind doing it, but I wonder if that's why all my attempts at rice on the pot fricking sucked.

      Also, why?

nta but i assume because long is less starchy and he doesnt give a shit about the other aspects washing can give

you wash rice to make it sticky, not washing preserves the external starch layer which keeps it loose
I think that doesnt work with bleached rice which is always a sticky clumpy mess

          >you wash rice to make it sticky
lol no you don't, and if you do you're a moron.

The starch in long grain rice is expressed within the kernel mostly. You don't gain much from washing.

Just don't eat rice. It will NEVER be enough because at the molecular level rice is just sugar. I'm not joking look it up.

1 bowl of rice = just as harmful as a can of soda.

you could say the same about literally every starchy vegetable. medium fries = half a pound of cake

        Anonymous

Pretty much. AFAIK there isn't much if any scientific evidence that humans are supposed to consume more than 50-100 grams of sugar molecules.

What these wienerSUCKERS refuse to tell kids is that soda, potatoes, rice, whatever that has a molecular compositioni of glucose counts toward this limit.

Whoever created the israeli food pyramic needs to be criminaly prosecuted for the creation of the diabetes/obesity epidemic.

why do you dumb Black folk always leave fruit off of the list of shit that's sugar.

Fruit is just fricking candy that has some vitamins and fiber.

            Anonymous

Fiber (debatable whether good for you or not) slows down the absorbtion of these sugars so it's in the grey area. We would be 100X better off giving kids mandarins instead of soda, that's for sure.

The point is we don't need sugar/carbs. Scientifically speaking humans don't need them to survive. They're just slop we invented to so poor people won't die en masse.

if i'm lazy i just toast it in oil/butter since it also separates the grains pretty well
