All of central Europe, really. Oddly enough, other than Austria. Or, at least, despite being from a neighbouring country, I can't name a single sausage native there.

i have been asking the same question too lately. the sheer diversity and the fact that every single wiener has a 10000 year history behind it is mind boggling. germans will never be topped

      And this

Good call. Cumberland and Lincolnshire sausage are genuinely excellent

In all honesty Germans eat a lot of sausages, as a result of which, sausages are naturally synonymous with Germans but they do taste 'samey'. Try are few British Bangers, there are loads to try from.

I’m not sure I’ve had generic “bangers” but I think some of the specialty stores near me sell them. I’ve had sausage rolls from a shop in my neighborhood, kinda upscale, they’re like $7-8 each lol and they make a big deal out of the fact that they use Cumberland sausage (this is in NY)

          > $7-8 each
That's quite expensive for a sausage roll but I guess the sausages are imported?
Brit sausage rolls tend to be a generic sausage meat.

'Bangers' are a bit fatty and 'Porky' and they often split when you cook them.

Between Cumberland and Lincolnshire, I tend to go to Lincolnshire sausages, the herbyness suits me better. Give them a go if you get the chance.

Apparently, the best selling Sausage in the UK is 'Richmond' but I think this is due to Marketing! Having said that, they are OK. My only grievance is that they are an Irish company.

            >I think this is due to Marketing!
The problem is nobody's really collecting the data properly to know which type of sausage is favourite. How do you compare what the big supermarkets report? What about all the small independent butchers' own sausages?
We also import a lot of sausages from Poland. Polish pork products are based.

You paid 8 usd for a sausage roll? You got fricking scammed dude. What's an appropriate comparison here...imagine someone in the UK paying 8 usd for a hot dog.

such a moronic thing to say, stuff is always more expensive outside its native habitat. scarcity raises price

I'm moronic? You paid $8 for a sausage roll. Next you're going to tell me you pay $10 for empanadas. Learn to cook.

Best sausage roll (as in sausages in a bread roll, not the pastry thing) is the Lorne sausage you get in Scotland

Germans suck so much wiener that they have to make their meat wiener-shaped just to be able to stomach it. Grim.
