Does the "new" sriracha actually taste different than the old version or is it purely psychological?

It's going to be different because they can't buy their peppers from Underwood Ranches, which now sells their own sriracha

is that what happened? the producer decided to say fuck em and just make their own shit instead of selling it?

the tabasco brand one is better anyway so who cares

Both of these brands are absolutely MOGGED by Yellowbird.

No, Rooster broke the deal, refused to pay for peppers, Underwood won a huge settlement
Then it turned out Huy Fong was using drones to spy on their growing methods and steal seeds and shit so they could try growing them in Mexico
If you like Tabasco more than Rooster you probably would like it more than Underwood's sriracha, but give Badia a try if you can find it

Underwood Ranches recently launched a new hot sauce collection that are basically improved versions of Huy Fong Foods' Sriracha sauces, using the exact same chili peppers that Huy Fong has been banned from using.

Sriracha is a forced meme, it will never be good. Pretty soon it will go the way of brioche buns and everyone will forget they were ever supposed to pretend it was superior. The moment you put Sriracha on anything you've already ruined it, the flavor is so sharp that it masks everything else. It's designed for tastelets who think intensity automatically = good food.

Sriracha and similar sauces are a staple in a lot of SEA countries because these people have to eat vermin and literal garbage to keep themselves from starving to death. They have a legitimate necessity to mask the flavor of whatever it is they're eating.

I am like half a mile from the Sriracha factory and they don't seem very busy. In the past when they were making product during the chili harvest you would see trucks delivering every 5 minutes for days.

I have had old Huy Fong rooster brand, various Asian market srirachas, and believe it or not, my go to brand is Kroger sriracha if not going for the stronger paste. Kroger it slightly hotter and has just a bit more garlic than the rooster.
