Gravy is a superior choice, but your loaf should be moist and flavorful enough to not need any topping.

He's not wrong, good food is good without adding a lot of fat-sweet sauce to mask the taste.

I somewhat agree but a judiciously applied sauce can elevate the dish.

If you're masking the taste, it's bad. If you're enhancing the taste, it's good.

No, he's exactly wrong. If you disagree then throw out every condiment you own right now.

Do you think hollandaise exists to mask the taste of eggs?

The sauce is a central part of meatloaf, its not a choice or a flavor masking thing. If theres no sauce, its not meatloaf.

Its babies first and favorite sauce. fine on fries or a little bit on a burg but heating it up and baking it is fricking satanic

Let me guess you put it on your spaghetti and pizza?

Because they're self-hating Eurocentrists who hate the post-war American scene and instead assume their pre-war American version of an American food is the authentic way to make their Euro dish
Even though tomato ketchup has been around for centuries

My father's meatloaf recipe was very recently revealed to me because he's dying of cancer so he just kinda laid down and shouted cooking instructions at me.
He puts a shitload of water/stock in the meat and then puts it in something like pic related. It's shrinks up and "sweats" as it cooks and the liquid is then collected to make gravy.
Fricking delicious but I had no idea he made it that way. Try it out. It's good.

Yup. It’s a good filler, and helps to keep the ground turkey from drying out.
