moronic take. Organic frozen strawberries from a grocery store are $10 for 600g and costco has a 2kg bag for $14

Show many any store that you can get a whole rotisserie chicken for 5$ or chicken thighs for constantly 1.50/lbs. Hell even their chuck is the cheapest I can find at 5 or 6/lbs. Their produce is literally half the price of most places as well

moronic take. You're getting more of the product for a lower price per unit. Lets say you're on a health kick. 1lb of fresh organic broccoli from a normal store is like $7. At Costco it's 3lb for $5. You're looking to get some ground beef to make chili and stuff. 90/10 at a normal store runs around $6.50/lb for a 3lb package while at Costco it's only $3.99/lb but you buy it in a 6lb package. Uh oh though you're gonna have muh cheat day and you go to grab some frozen tasty stuff. A frozen pizza is what you decide to have. A Digorno deep dish (shit pizza) costs like $10 at a normal store. At Costco you get 2 Motor City pizzas (superior frozen pizza beyond all measure) for the same price. Or you could get a whole fresh XL pizza from the food court for $12 and grab a soda to go with it for basically nothing.

This, the savings on certain items make it worth it, and if you happen to average at least $500 a month in purchases (say $350 groceries, and $150 more everything else) then you get more than the cost of Executive membership back every year.

It absolutely is for quite a few cuts. Prime stuff? Nope they're about the same, but ground beef and chuck and round are all the equivalent of a sale price or cheaper year round vs regular grocery stores.

        >when i go to the costco in the more white area
Just depends on the employee I think. I never dress like a slob, wear my good israeliteelry, purse and Rolex most days, and never ratty shoes. Hellos Oofos! A quick head and toe and I look well off, as are most shoppers at a Costco.
But, I might get the offical counting person when I go out the door, and actually quite often, they leave an item in my cart that the checker finds, like another case of iced coffee and I have to return to a register.
But, I resent having to show a card when I enter the store, and often just point to Optical and walk right the F past them. They might begin to yell at me, and then stop when I pull a number and try on frames. All 6 pairs of my prescription frames are Costco, when I spend down my HSA every December.
I do not have a Costco card however. So I don't like to show it upon entering. I use my sister's or Dad's card when shopping though. The tires on my car are all Costco and probably fill up every 4th fill up there. I adore that store for every reason, but heh, just don't need to join since it is a literal hour from my house, and it's just an occasional treat. I probably do all my christmas stocking gifting there, from restaurrant gift cards to chocolates, to giant tubs of pecans. Booze doesn't require a card, and I'm always getting street tacos or almond danishes to go. I live near a cutesy, no chain stores-only mom and pop restaurants historic district, so I have to travel to get big box stores.

I have anxiety each and every time, but it's never been a problem. Just let them ring up a couple items such that a refund is more trouble than asking for ID. I do have a credit card in my Dad's name for when I shop in the pharmacy for him, if I need to whip that out to match.
            For optical, zero issues.

That's a great question, given how Asians on average commit way less crime, whether it's petty, property, and violent, than whites. They also are on average way more educated and make way more money than whites, so they have even less reason to steal. Maybe it was opposite day and you forgot to check your calendar? Maybe the employees at the Costcos in your area can't read FBI crime statistics? Who knows.

You're paying for the ability to return anything you want. I returned a couch I used for 4 years because it didn't fit after I moved and no questions asked they have my money back.

I saw a guy with a 15 year old broken dehumidifier, they gave him cash back.

Once you start going it becomes your go to place to shop because everything they sell is "good", and if it sucks, you can return it.

Electronics are limited to 90 days, everything else is forever.

Their business model is to make money on the membership and break even on the goods they are selling, so you can get some ridiculous deals on things when they are looking to move stuff off the floor.

Get the executive membership and the membership fee becomes free if you spend enough, but it's more of a hard merchandise place than food. Your food selections are limited and usually huge, but they are all quality.

I live by a Wegmans which is open later, so typically go there.

Worth it. Membership fee severely reduces the number of Black folk there, and I never hear of hordes of pavement apes doing raids on Costco. Meanwhile, the Target right around the corner regularly has shoplifting reports that the cops don't even bother responding to and now I hear they're considering closing that store.

If you have to pay to avoid undesirables, then it's already too late. You should have moved a few decades ago.

I don't know where you live but that's simply not true here. It's not like $60 bucks annually is enough to keep out trashy morons who already have a $500 vehicle payment each month.

Mine doesn't have many blacks, but there aren't many blacks in the area anyway. Instead it's full of FOB Asians, Indians and Eastern Europeans/Russians who all come with their gigantic out of control families or stand blocking the middle of the aisle while screaming into their cell phones the whole time.

It's not gonna keep out the spendy morons who follow blogs written by other "thrifty" morons

It will keep out the actual Black folk and drug addicts who can't keep a job and drop subscriptions because they never pay for them. That's who you're filtering. You'll still get the Mexican family of 30 and the comically obese black woman with 3 kids.

never been to a costco, but I utilize a Sam's club...I understand they are bascially the same? Anyway, it has been a fricking god send with saving money with groceries. I'll buy whole pork loins, chicken breasts, theighs, wings...break them all down, pop them in portion sized ziplock bags and freeze it. Bought like a 50 pd bag oif rice for around 30 bucks still have it almost a year later. Also good for bulk buys like toilet paper and paper towels. I t's a little bit more money up front but your saving money in the long run by the portions. booze is pretty cheap there also, i spend like 20 bucks on a 1.75 ltr of rum compared to 25+ at the liqour store.

      >but I utilize a Sam's club...I understand they are bascially the same?
They are basically the same concept, but oh so different in terms of luxury finds. The random items that premiere at Costco only make it worth it for the person who wants prime meats, only the best cheeses like Maytag, or the highest rated wines. There were some breton style shortbread cookies in a metal tin that I still reorder now off of Amazon long past having them sell out. Probably another 15 examples of "finds" that were fun like that.

    >pay for the ability to shop at a store
You'll find that entrance fees are usually less about letting you in than keeping the rabble out. Especially botanical gardens, which have a really low entry price, are a very good representation of this.

Worth it for the discount on gas alone. Being able to shop for grocery with fewer melanin-enriched individuals around is just the cherry on top.

Costco is the great filter. Someone who can't see the value in a $50/year investment to access massive savings on high quality products is probably the type of person to shoplift, act moronic in the store, shit in the parking lot, etc.
I'm glad most anons ITT don't like Costco, keep it that way. We're full.

It's obviously not as good as if you have a whole family, but it's still worth it just for gas and other stuff imo, with current prices even one tank a month saves you double what the annual membership costs. There's a lot of stuff that's shelf-stable or can be frozen if you're on your own too, and non-grocery stuff that's a much better deal than other places.
