I just realized I have never even been on a train a single time in my life

      literally how?

I'm in my mid 40s and I've never been on a train. I've only used public transportation one time. That was enough for me. I've had a vehicle since I was a kid. I use that. I've been on a plane 3x but never even got on a plane until I was 23. Last plane ride was by age 25. I can't stand being trapped with a bunch of fricking morons. Never been on a cruise, either. Never been west of the Mississippi. Travel is for women and wagecucks. Anyway, that's my blog. Thanks for reading

I've eaten takeout on Amtrak from NYC to Boston a couple times. I like to bring beer and pints of liquor in brown paper bags onto the MBTA commuter rail to pregame for a night in the city or to go to a comedy club. The MBTA subway is open season for public drinking due to the absence of ticket collectors walking around from car to car.

New York City, unironically. God, especially for food. Don't even try to tell me that Boston's food scene is anywhere near NYC's

The NYC food scene would die without 4am last call. The only good restaurants in NYC are high end steak houses. Boston and New Haven have better pizza. I guess NYC has better brown ppl slop. The Irish pubs in Boston are second only to Ireland. Boston and Baltimore are the only east coast city's with good seafood.

the food in german ICE bordrestaurants is cantina quality at restaurant prices. it's fine, and considering it's a restaurant on train tracks, the price makes sense.
some ICEs only have bistros instead of restaurants though. I haven't bought any food from those, and I would usually rather eat at the station or my destination instead of tiding myself over with sandwiches and snack foods from the bistro. Their coffee is alright.

I do sometimes, but it usually sucks. In Canada we only have 1 real major passenger rail operator called VIA Rail and it's run by the government. They're pretty awful but that's mostly the fault of the freight companies owning most of the rail, but that results in a poorly funded service.

They have some different levels of food service I guess. There's more common foods you'd get on a business class trip between major cities or something. Then there are the real long distance ones with overnight sleeper cars and stuff. They tend to have better food at least...more "gourmet" to use a buzzword they'd use. Most of the trains also have economy class food which is real basic and awful. Snacks are available too like nuts, sandwiches and alcohol.

Nope. I've ridden various trains, but never done a full meal. Not even sure if I did snacks, most of my train rides have been < 2 hours.

There are lots of comfy train meal videos on YouTube. Obviously they're mostly Japanese.
Though I've had snacks on trains several times, I've only had one formal white table cloth type meal and that was breakfast on Amtrak. Since I was traveling alone, they sat me with another gentleman who was also traveling alone. The guy made the usual obligatory small talk but was twice my age. What are really weird was he wearing what looked like a Nazi or Salvation Army uniform but all the insignia was israeli. Even weirder, the guy was black. I have no idea what that was about and thought it was better not to ask. I don't remember the food being good or bad so 'unremarkable' would be my description.
