Fast food fundamentals

When’s the last time you got a plain ol’ Bean Burrito from Taco Bell? Or a crunchy/soft taco?

Or, from McD’s, a regular hamburger or cheeseburger? Nothing fancy. Not even a Quarter Pounder or McChicken. Just the most absolute basic items, the ones that built the empires.

    These are the fundamentals.

    I get at least one basic crunchy taco every time I go to The Bell

    I stopped getting chicken soft tacos when I started puberty from then on it was chalupa + gordita crunch + 7 layer until crunch wraps and xxl grilled burrito came out. doritos locos was the last new item I've had and that was early on in the run. dont think I've ever had anything with potato from them.

    I had regular cheeseburgers from McD's when I got myself a little feast to eat while watching The Founder.

    Now that pic is a proper TB bean burrito. It's obviously not a bean burrito made by stoned darkies and is not representative of the typical TB bean burrito.

    I buy plain wendys hamburgers or plain arbys roast beefs, maybe a wopper nothing onnit from bk.
    I bring them home and add condiments/ingredients. For instance pickles, red onion, mayo, and lettuce on the burger, or pepper relish and a sharp chedder on my roast beef, or pickles and mayo on a plain chick-filla.
    Then i wrap the fricker in foil and toss it in the toster oven for a few minutes.
    How fricked am I?

      Buy that. Sprinkle them with some salt, pepper, garlic powder, and a few drops of liquid smoke in a skillet with a lid. Cover, cook five minutes. Flip. Cover five minutes.

      Voila, better whopper patty. With out having to look like a freak ordering a plain burger. Or leave the house.

        Why would I care how I look? I can (and do) make burgers myself, I prefer 80/20 for that. Stubbs is good liquid smoke.
        Try adding this sometime.

      I mean, I’m pretty goddamn lazy but this is beyond the pale even for me. The burger would require some annoying cooking, I’ll give you that, but the roast beef – you could just slap some deli roast beef on a bun and it would be as much effort as adding all the toppings. Super easy. Granted, you don’t get that specific Arby’s taste

        All just stuff I already keep on hand for when i am cooking, i like fiddling around with ingredients even if i feel too worn out to be arsed to cook after work.

          So just... "already have" roast beef in the fridge too lol and some buns. What's the big deal

            i likly will not eat enough roast beef to justify buying a half # or whatever unless i plan to, if I feel like a sandwich i can pay the 4.50 or whatever.
            No dishes, no throwing out bread or coldcuts I dont end up eating. when I make a roast or corned beef or roast a chicken i'll buy a couple buns for sandwiches.

        Literally no one got it until it became one of the poverty items on the broke menu. The crunchy taco is what built TB, period.

            ah yes, during the rise of TB, bean paste, a vegetarian option, was a super big seller. Jesus frick, can you even think?

              Bean burritos were always a big seller. Anyone who ate at Taco Bell in the 80/90s knows this. I don’t know why this simple fact upsets you so much, but you’re amusing me, so continue crying about it.

                it's almost like TB didn't grow to what it was in the 80s and 90s.

                Again, just try to think at some point.

                What a great sentence. You are definitely communicating valid ideas clearly. You certainly aren’t flailing pathetically while having a bizarre tantrum about bean burritos. Keep it up!

                >guy seriously thinks that the "eh, we already have the ingredients so let's throw together something" bean paste item is what grew Taco Bell across the country in the 60s and 70s.
                >even seriously thinks the bean burrito was a popular item during the 80s.

                It amazes me when people are so publicly and loudly proud to be fully ignorant of history and culture. Yeah buddy, that bean burrito is exactly how they got popular in Iowa. Them Iowanians are super into bean paste.

                bean burrito is fricking disgusting now and it was fricking disgusting in the 90s.
                there's absolutely no way that it was the building block of TACO bell.

    I exclusively eat "plain" food items from fast food restaurants.
    Hamburger = meat and bun
    Hot dog = meat and bun
    Burrito = beans and tortilla
    Pizza = cheese, tomato sauce, and bread
    I never put cheese or sauce or vegetables on my fast food if I can avoid it (obviously you can't have pizza without cheese and tomato sauce because that'd just be bread)
