I've only lost chicks less than a few days old from both the cornish cross and bresse batches. The Bresse are doing quite well now that all the weak chicks have died off.
We feed the cornish cross 1/4lb per bird in two feedings. Around 8 am they get a meal and around 7pm they get a meal. Organic feed. They look very healthy and lively. We have been moving the chicken tractor every 2 or 3 days because we didn't have the dolly built, but now that thst is finished we are moving them everyday.
Only 2-3 more weeks until slaughter. I'm going to dry dry aging one.
Yeah chicken sucks. I wish ducks had become the main cheap bird meat. We could have had duck nuggets, fried duck sandwiches, duck parmesan, grilled duck and pesto pizza, anything. Instead we got stuck with a meat that tastes like nothing. Nobody who eats daily has ever been excited by a roast chicken.
You're a liar. Nobody with a competent brain has ever heard "we're having roast chicken for dinner" and felt anything. It is an utterly neutral phrase.
Here's the thing. A good roast chicken is good in spite of the chicken. It's the seasonings and they would be better on any other bird. The only flavor you can literally squeeze out of chicken itself is the stock.

I've eaten chicken and eggs raised by neighbors. There isn't that big a difference, especially with the eggs.

What's the point of proving you wrong when you've already admitted that you're a tastelet?

This is mostly true the for the eggs. The big different with egg taste is mainly from age. Yolk strength is the same. Most supermarket eggs are noticeably older.

Wouldn't even say the backyard chickens taste better, just different. It's like if you put a miniscule, barely detectable amount of MSG on something. I think mostly it's a placebo effect, everything "tastes better" if you go to a lot of trouble.
chicken? More like fagcken
Wew, birdlet detected
Based, chickchad.
You lost any out of the last two batches yet?

Chicken may not be the best tasting of the meats, but it's the one I'd gladly eat every day.
