I have a few cans of chickpeas in the pantry, figured I'd heat them up in a pot as a side but not sure how to season them

I totally agree, it's the king of legumes. I'm soaking some right now, will cook it tomorrow and serve with some nice indian curry for a quick lunch.

cans of cooked chickpeas don't need anything as a neutral side, they already have salt in them. You can also use them in salads, they pair extremely well with canned tuna, some green leaves or lettuce, sweet corn, evoo and croutons.

They're my favorite legume too. Just made a nice chickpea curry a couple weeks ago.

based, chana masala is where it's at

        >they already have salt in them.
I strain and rinse the shit out of them though.
also, I don't mean sodium I mean like in terms of things like herbs or powders.
Just trying to get fancy like if I decide to make a plain chicken breast with salt and pepper and garlic I could eat it with reheated canned chickpeas with a bit of curry powder, red pepper flakes, and a dash of honey or something

chickpeanon I assume yes but is it the same if you use drained+rinsed canned chickpeas?

nta but yes, just drain and rinse them. they have bean slime on them out of the can. also I've found different beans of chickpeas are cooked to different tenderness in the factory. some are way too firm and basically still need cooked a little more to be soft and tender.

/ck/'s opinion on black chickpeas vs the regular ones?
I've had them in pasta and didn't notice any difference.
I make a batch of hummus once a month and thinking of trying making it with them instead, also they are cheaper for some weird reason? Seems weird considering how much rarer they are.

You know the difference between a chick pea and a garbanzo bean?
I wouldn't pay 50 bucks to go have a garbanzo bean in my mouth.
