Food poisoning is a huge collection of different causes. You're probably conflating salmonella poisoning from organic lettuce that you here about in the news with the more general case.

        >I haven't had food poisoning EVER, what the frick is wrong with your food?
It was cooked and served by someone other than myself when I had food poisoning, meaning I did not have complete chain of custody over what was happening. Don't trust anybody except yourself.

unless you grew your food yourself, you never have complete custody. Not that I'm advocating for that

you'd be surprised at what line cooks do to food in order to not make you wait another five minutes. source: been told to re-fry wings, throw burgers and buns back on grills, etc if they've hit the floor. also, if you see people in aprons smoking out back, just assume that they don't wash their hands when they get back inside the restaurant

food poisoning can be caused by any kind of bad bacteria, parasites, etc.

  11. 2 years ago

Food poisoning is caused by bacterial colonies that produce toxins.
    You’re thinking of stomach viruses.

food poisoning bacteria is botulism, which causes nerve paralysis. pretty sure they arent from fecal matter, because if anyone had botulism bacteria in their guts they would already be dead or paralyzed

      Anonymous

you get botulism from improperly canned foods, and sometimes improperly heated liquids e.g. chili dispensers. It requires anaerobic conditions. Not a super common illness anymore because of FDA regulations on canning.

Hey bud, fun fact when immigrants are harvesting fields they're usually a half mile or more from the bathroom so they just shit on the spot. AKA salmonella
    God bless the USA

not salmonella, e. coli. Salmonella is present at poultry farms and in infected chicken tissue. You can find multiple antibiotic resistant salmonella in runoff downstream from large poultry farms. All our food is tainted with shit, it's why I don't eat salads

The fecal–oral route (also called the oral–fecal route or orofecal route) describes a particular route of transmission of a disease wherein pathogens in fecal particles pass from one person to the mouth of another person.

You should look up "night soil." It was used in the US, too. The stereotype of the slow, stupid southerner was because of rampant hookworm infections in children that they got running around barefoot in their fields

The other explanation is contamination of meat/ingredients at many other stages before then, from harvest to packaging, which remains if the food isnt cooked properly.
