Ground Beef

I love these things for a healthy, quick lunch but they are getting pretty expensive.

I eat meat but that other anon is right. Unless you deliberately look for studies funded by obvious shill groups like Beef Checkoff the research shows red meat correlating with inflammation / CRP and increased cancer and cardiovascular disease risks.
Processed meat is worse, unprocessed red meat is second place, unprocessed red meat where the cow had a really happy grass fed life without being cooped in a crowded diarrhea hell cage is very slightly better than standard unprocessed red meat, and then getting your protein from fish and/or vegetable sources is the least bad for health approach, with the caveat that going full vegan and not taking care to cover all the nutrients you're missing from lack of meat has its own set of different health problems like hair loss / tooth loss / frailty / etc.

I also see studies saying there is no increase in inflammation with meat consumption and that grass-fed beef is protective of cardiovascular health. I think there are too many factors to say the science has been settled so quickly and easily. Grass-fed beef hasn't even really been popular enough for long enough at least in the US to determine anything. But I do know I feel a little better and it tastes better when eating it.

The US government authority for dietary advice is controlled by Seventh Day Adventists, who are plant based by religion. Should tell you all you need to know about which direction they lean when giving diet guidelines.

It's not the meat it's how much of it.
2 pounds of beef is 2 pounds of food. The average human only needs 1/4th that shit in a meal

There'd be virtually no difference between canned ground beef and ground beef you cooked yourself on a nutritional level. The ingredients for OP's pic related is literally just ground beef and salt.

There is no possible way the contents of that can resemble what is on the label.

Also, according to walmart, I can get that can in OP for $8.82 (31.5 cents per ounce)
    OR
I could get some fresh 85/15 beef and cook it myself for $0.39/oz or $10.92.

Gee, for $2.10 more I can eat like a normal human being, or buy it in a can. Tough choice. Why do these products exist? Because preppers and legally moronic "men" buy them?

Because you haven't put in the effort? I'm a white NEET with two engineering degrees and an IQ tested to be in the 130s multiple times. I get $291 in SNAP benefits each month. Not even committing fraud, just making my way through modern society and getting back a bit of what I use to put into the system.

I'd say I'm the guy getting $291 of your tax dollars but I put hundreds of thousand in taxes into the system before I was kicked out of it for not getting the covid shots. It'll take a long time to get back all the money I paid in.

                >I'm a white NEET with two engineering degrees and an IQ tested to be in the 130s
Yes you're destitute. You're simply never going to make it.

Despite being 54% of the candidates for jobs, only 6% of those being hired today are white males. The system wants me destitute and not to make it. But I have a roof over my head and $291 in SNAP benefits each month, so I'm surviving, even if many wish I'd just lay down and die.

Far from schizophrenic but certainly the rest applies and probably won't change until the ESG/DEI fad dies out. I'm just glad I don't have the money to fly anywhere right now nor an employer that would require me to do so. Looks like it's getting rather dangerous for some strange reason.

                >Despite being 54% of the candidates for jobs, only 6% of those being hired today are white males.
So you're using nebulous statistics to justify being a worthless loser. You got 2 degrees because you were good at taking tests and going to class. If you don't apply to 100 jobs a week you're letting yourself down. Its not "the system" trying to keep you destitute, its you being a moronic sperg in both applying and at the interview process while quietly accepting defeat.
                >But I have a roof over my head and $291 in SNAP benefits each month, so I'm surviving, even if many wish I'd just lay down and die.
That sentence suggests you wish you'd just lay down and die too. I'm assuming your parents pay for an apartment (or you live with them) and have $291 a month for food so why bother with any sense of urgency? You're accepting mediocrity because you've been in school for too long and just now figuring out the real world isn't a standardized education system.

You'd better figure your shit out soon or you'll be 50 years old working side gigs for $38k a year complaining about "the system" still. But hey, at least you have canned ground beef to microwave for your tacos.

If bought by the case from the manufacturer, it's about $4.95lbs and is 75/25 meat. At Kroger where I live 73/27 meat is $5.29lbs, so canned and fresh are relatively close in price. Wal-Mart is a bit cheaper at $4.88/lbs though can get much lower if you buy it in one of those large rolls.
I'd generally prefer fresh but if you're stocking up for periods where you won't be able to access a store for fresh beef, it's not a bad deal. It has a five year shelf life so it might be good to buy a case each year and then use a can once a month to keep things rotated.

Saw an article on Linkedin about how Walmart is trying to go after more affluent customers because their normal customers are starting to get priced out. Not sure where a person who is priced out of Walmart goes next because food at "dollar" stores are often not a very good deal.

      >I'm schizophrenic and I refuse to take my meds, the deep state surely loses with my passing. Collapse soon, two more weeks!!

Still spending the $291/month I get from the government and there's nothing you can do about it but seethe. Don't worry, eventually enough stuff will break for companies to lose their diversity obsession and I'll return to being a wage slave like you.
