      It's okay.
If you like streaky bacon for its crispness, you might find that beef belly bacon tends to not be sliced thin enough to crisp up. I've no idea if it'll actually get crisp off sliced thinly since I've never seen it done. Even at butchers who slice to order, they can never manage to get it as thin as I'd like.

I wouldn't go that far, but I can see what you mean, being that it's a smoked cured beef product

Know. Use ham or bacon or just go without.

    >is bovine bacon a good substitute to actual pig bacon?
No. Like turkey bacon, it is simply a product for religious restrictions, not health purposes. A store only needs you to buy it once and decide yourself to make their $$$$ on the novelty item.

      alright, I'll try both
this store right outside has cow bacon, but not pig bacon

this is a bacon-free household, not exactly an incomprehensible enigma

Bacon is bacon. It's salt cured pork. Nothing else tastes like bacon. The closest you can get to bacon without it being bacon is fried ham.

alright, thanks, I'll start with pork

If you want to try bacon just buy bacon. Pork isn't like bacon.

Go buy some regular old streaky bacon made from a pig.
Slap it between some white bread with your favourite mayonnaise.

(this one's a joke, but I've really never tried bacon)

maybe I have, maybe I haven't, moron, I just never actively looked for bacon
I don't buy or usually eat sausages and shit, either, used to eat them sometimes as a kid when my parents bought some
I buy meat and fish at the market, I've never even been to a butcher's shop, I don't go to the meat section at the store at all
how is this a revelation to you?

also, I haven't tried steak, either
guess I'm not gastronomically adventurous, I treat food more like fuel and just wash it down with water
I do love meat and make some juicy, crispy chicken burgers and fried fish
I've also tried basil and some root thing for the first time recently
a lot of shit, actually, celery, spices, salads
I'm learning to cook more diverse meals
my parents are old, so they only ate "healthy" food, which consisted of steamed vegetables and meat, all plain
maybe I picked up some of that
and we ate pasta every day because my mom didn't bother researching if it was healthy or not, I actually still don't know and eat a lot of pasta, I don't give a shit
