They got what they wanted either way, something to post on social media about. If the food was "good", then you flex on poorgays. If the food was "bad", then you get to appear more knowledgeable than highly trained chefs. Nobody goes to a tire company restaurant for the actual food.

but the tire company is no longer affiliated with the restaurant raters :^)

I can only suspect they went to a place expecting a meal but ended up getting the tasting menu

I went to a place as a teenager that had like a 12 course tasting menu and I got it and by uh course 7-8 I was completely utterly full they gave you so much damn food lol.

          >the tire company is no longer affiliated with the restaurant raters
Naturally, the tire company actually provides something of value to the world, it has no place for culinary twats.

I always feel pretty satisfied after having the tasting menu.
These are probably just fat stupid cows who were expecting a buffet.

A very light tasting menu, then.

Same. I don't understand what places people are going to with such dainty tasting menus. The point of a tasting menu is to show off everything they can do. If you're not stuffed by the end, then they don't know how to do that much.

i usually look at entrees especially for lunch than always check and see if they have a smaller 'version' of it as an appetizer and they almost always do.
appetizers are the way to go depending where you go

Usually the restaurants that have tasting menus that don't make you full are overhyped crap anyway

the 2 Star restaurant in my home town I go regularly even gives you more of a dish without additional charge if you ask them
but their menu will leave you completely full anyway

and in my experience almost all starred restaurants will give you quite a big meal for their tasting menu (at least in Europe - where i mostly travel)

i mean yeah, you pay for the culinary "art"
if you just go their to get your calories, you will be disappointed

They got what they wanted either way, something to post on social media about. If the food was "good", then you flex on poorgays. If the food was "bad", then you get to appear more knowledgeable than highly trained chefs. Nobody goes to a tire company restaurant for the actual food.

lots of people go there for the food
      probably most
people making photos with their food in (regular, not overhyped) starred restaurants are not a common sight
even if you ignore all old people, i'd guess less than 1/4 will take more than one photo

also how is it a flex to eat a 100€-200€ meal
that is not a lot of money for most (though a lot for food)

Anons will never know the feel of having a truly priceless culinary experience like webm related. To be fair, it's not for the average knuckle dragging midwit. Personally I'm familiar with fine culinary arts and have the refined palate to truly understand it, but I doubt any other anon could say the same.

But yeah, it's not a sloppified McBurger with le bacon drowned in mayonnaise and liquid orange imitation cheese, so it's not for you.

is ultra fine dining literally the greatest con of all time?

YES. Practically all restaurants, fast food, diners, chains, are all just grifting on morons who don’t want to or don’t know how to cook.

I mean mcdonalds is absolutely yes but the ultra fine dining isn't selling food it's selling an experience which you can then brag to your friends about

      that's bs
everyone can enjoy a perfectly crafted nice tasting menu
people that don't like it mostly do so because they always think about the price in the back of their head or because they don't want to sit down for a few hours for social interaction

also I've been to el celler de Can Roca
non of their other dishes is that gimmicky
and even this one is not that bad

      i've seen far worse
like a wine dripper that was actually really annoying
or literally every time they plate / assembly the whole dish at your seat
or any time someone thinks its cool to serve soup on a fricking flat surface and you literally can't eat it

If I did this, the bubbles would be full of hydrogen, that'd land directly onto whatever-the-frick, and then they'd be set on fire. At least make the guests go "Wow!" instead of giving them a minute to check their phones.
