Why do they have to write it, instead of adjusting prices. Instead of increasing prices they found another way to inflate the bill

        Anonymous

because most people that eat goyslop don't look at their itemized receipt
a fair number of these places also have printed menus that cost a fair amount to print on waterproof cardstock
it'd look a lot worse for them to strikethrough or paste on new prices
my local pho place did that and it looks moronic because you can see the old price plain as day
        >Pho: $16.50 (struck through)
        >new price $21.50
        yeah i stopped going
I'm not slipping you more than a fricking 20 for hot broth, cheap noodles, and random pieces of beef

Legally, you can't be arrested for not paying a fee that wasn't disclosed but you do have to pay the rest of the bill.

when you steal something from a store, you can get arrested.
why won't they arrest the company employees when they don't deliver what i paid for?

            Anonymous

because the employee is acting in capacity of the company they are working for, if there is a case of commercial deception you can sue the company but the police won't save you from being an idiot if that is the case.

            >when you steal something from a store, you can get arrested.
Not in CA, you have to steal over $1k to get arrested, and even then the cops aren't gonna bother due to DAs not caring to press the charges. Some other blue states have also followed this model of legalized theft.

So theft is actually legal in some places in the US.

what if i don't live in California but i drove to california and just went to different stores stealing things i want and then drove home? would i get away with it?

                Anonymous

Basically. A lot of the homeless people who live on the west coast come from other states and just move there because places like LA, San Fran, Seattle and Portland give them free shit and let them get away with anything.

this is how a business rasies prices while still listing the older, lower price

    it is deceptive
actionable in civil court in the US

easier to stiff the waitress on the tip and never go back

I can only imagine its so they dont have to put prices on items up. better than redoing the whole menu and people saying everythings gone up.
Still a bit scummy if they don't clearly state it.

      Anonymous

They're already scummy by not including taxes in the price but that makes sense if they operate across different states. If they want to charge for inflation then send the bill to the white house.

Yes. When I saw it on my receipt I started shrieking like a banshee. Then I hopped up into the table, popped a squat, and shat all over it. Then I ran out the front door at top speed without any pants on.
