The meat my dad got was properly boxed legit etc… it just wasn’t good and not worth even a fraction of the price

I made them pull out the meat to look at it, then I chose only filets, they said $150 for 5lbs of filets, I countered with $80 cash and everyone was happy. About the same quality as grocery store meat, and if bartered properly, cheaper than the store.

Once. Told them I wasn't interested since I doubt it's better than what I do, which is buy stuff on sale at restaurant supply stores and package/freeze it myself.

You reminded me of their existence. I think my parents bought meat from one, once. Like 20 years ago. No idea what they bought though.

When I was a kid there was this mom & pops butcher/deli that used to take mail orders and phone orders for meat, and deliver it in a refridgerated van for a charge. My family used to get most of our meat from this family, and sometimes when I did my chores and got good grades my dad would pick up a bbq sub (basically pulled pork and brisket with bbq sauce and slaw), and holy frick I loved those things. Sadly the building got torn down and the family moved operations far away but I remember being friends with the owners son while he had his business close to where I lived.

shit you just made me unlock a childhood memory. anyone ever interact with schwan ice cream trucks? we had them in the northeast in the 90s. these guys would come by your house, take an order from you, and then be back the next day with it. it was like a fricking little christmas. never really understood how it made business sense either since we lived kinda out there.

Reminds me of the ice cream truck that previously was an armored truck.

A gf who worked for Buckhead Beef once threw a salad shooter at me. But that was unrelated to meat. Well, sort of unrelated, depends on what kind of meat we're talking about.

Out of highschool I applied for a job like this selling fish. A driver there at the facility much older than me said this is *our* only option or working in a warehouse in a defeated tone. It scared the shit out of me and I started to better my life after that.

I had a similar experience. My first job was driving forklift at a warehouse and a 60 year old guy took me aside on my first day and shattered my illusions. Also had a bunch of other old people tell me I shouldn't be working there and that I was too young to be working 12 hour night shifts. I went like an entire year without seeing the sun except on my drive home.

But to the op, yes I saw these in the Detroit area and they are scumbags who should be lined up and shot. They tricked my step dad into buying a box of meat and it was shit that should have been ground up and made into chief biardi
