Yes really, nobody actually finishes the whole thing though. Even if it's used as catering for a bunch of people there's probably a lot left over.

I'm not a child nor have I felt joy in decades. I don't eat Mac and cheese. These may be related or maybe I just don't like pasta

I don't know why all these emergency meal prep things contain so many carbs. Carbs make you hungry as fuck and you don't need that many in a rationing crunch. Mac is at least fat heavy but they should be offering buckets of pemmican.

The appeal is to have access to foods you normally wouldn't in sealed bunker or whatever.

      >buckets of pemmican
Do you realize how expensive that would be? It takes a lot of meat to make pemmican and the money in processing it. The only thing a modern person can do is stick with mostly carb based emergency food and supplement with protein powder.

        >3 to 5 pounds of meat to make a single pound of pemmican
Great when you got a lot of extra meat that is going to rot, not good for us.

I almost posted the same thing..
If you COULD make it cost effective, something like 20 lbs. of individually vac-packed hockey puck sized pemmican blocks...
UH...Just took a look there are several companies already doing this.
        14 lbs. 2 oz in a bucket,(7/34oz. "bricks") is $672
At that point, you should be making your own.
That's only 3 weeks worth of food.

At that price it would be best to buy a freeze drier or even cheaper just dehydrate your own jerky.

Honestly about $50 for two pounds is reasonable given it is made from at least 6 pounds of meat and a long processing time.

Yeah, especially since most of the sites I looked at were using grass-fed beef and tallow for it.
I really need to get off my ass one of these days and find a good local butcher.

        Yes
1k calories of chicken breast is more satiating than 2k calories of beefy mac and cheese because carbs spike your insulin levels. The resulting low bloodsugar from too much at once just makes you even hungrier.
