What do you purchase with $40 to last the week?

alcohol and a number of small items in produce bags so i can inconHispanicuously steal the reasonable $180 worth of groceries that will actually feed me for the week

minimum $80 per meal, no meal that isn't delivered or prepared by the help. extras thrown away, better to have more than you need. $600 alotted for the wife's weekly block party, $300 for sunday football party, $20/day on donuts for the office, $200 twice a week on going out with the lads on lunch, $20 for the hooker's mcchicken meal wednesdays

essential foods and toothpaste. I was at Aldi today and everything was cheaper than usual. Even beef jerky was $3 for 1/2 pound bag.

Even if you had to buy every ingredient lentil soup (4-6 servings) shouldn't cost more than $10-15.

Swiss lentils with hot dogs and spätzle is nice. It's lentil, onion, bacon, hot dog, parsley, egg, flour, cheese and water. Simple shit and costs, like, 12CHF or so for six servings.
I can't imagine the cost would be much different in less civilised nations across the pond.

For me it's about 80-150 dollars depending, but that includes rarer purchases like condiments or Hispanices that last a while. So some weeks can go down to 50-80 bucks. I'm also a fat pig who eats a lot of slop so I assume if I was healthy I could probably cut that in half at least.

350€ and I consider this a lot, granted my smol kitchen sucks to cook in so I eat in a canteen or fast food mostly. Breakfast and lunch, sometimes lunch and dinner, never more than 2 meals a day. One big meal costs 6€ in my canteen. From Mo-Wed. lunch and dinner too lazy to calculate

I spend about 500/week. I never eat out, this all goes to premium ingredients: quality meat from an upscale butcher shop, fresh fish, local organic produce and dairy, fine cheeses, etc. This number doesn't include all the wine I buy, and I don't drink the cheap stuff.

Sounds implausibly high tbh. You'd have to still be buying excessive quantities of food to reach that level, even with premium ingredients
