Do you eat 1 lb of steak everytime you eat steak? I am a fat frick and like 8-10 oz of steak and a potato and salad fills me up. Even the $19 1 lb steak can be 2 servings. Disgusting fast food burgers cost $12 now. Figure it out.

then how did I find two independent sources that say one pound is between 1000 and 1500 calories, while yours is distilled information by Google from whatever sources it is pulling from?

I havn't eaten real steak since 2020. I eat ground beef or liver or cheap roast if I really want beef. Poor people don't get steak, sorry.

They don't want you to know this, but you can just cook chuck roast like a steak, and it will taste just as good. Sure there's some connective tissue, and chunks of fat, but a little finesse while slicing makes it a non-issue.

      op here

      i did this

      it's delicious but chewy

Chewy meat it good for you. Toughens up your jaw so the next time won't be so chewy. Most of the actual meat is actually pretty tender as long as you get a one with a good amount of marbling. It's just the bits of connective tissue that makes it chewy. I kinda like chewing on it though, like meat flavored chewing gum.

yeah, i was doing dishes and all of the sudden i realized i had been chewing a piece of fat or something for like 15 minutes, it's comfy, who needs mewing when you eat chuck...

I didn't try cutting out any connective tissue or anything I have no idea what to look for, I just cut 6 pounds into like 12 or so "steaks" and I had two just now

thanks so much for the advice I need to come here more

I like to try to find steak on sale at the local grocery when I go in for my daily beers and smokes. If there's nothing worth I leave without streak. someone's there's nothing other than what said and I just get that and do what [...] suggested, usually make a savory pan sauce to cover up the inferior meat quality a bit.

BUT SOMETIMES anons you find 12ozs of filet medallions for $6.99 on sale, sell by date is hour from now and I eat like a fricking czar

it was $6.99 / lb for chuck at Costco

On each of the different muscles there is a layer of "silverskin" surrounding the muscle, and separating it from the fat. I roughly traced it out in this image. I just cook it all as one peice then separate the muscles, and remove as much of the silverskin as possible, but you don't need to remove all of it. Just slicing through it will make it more manageable.

Oh I thought that was fat and you were supposed to leave it, I already cut the 6 pounds into like 14 steaks or so so maybe next time thank you for all your help!

It is fat, but separating each of those muscles from the fat is a layer of connective tissue. It's easier to see, and separate it after cooking since the fat has rendered and softened.

well that's wrong. those blue lines are where the fat is, but no silver skin.

The lines are just roughly outlining the different muscles. The silverskin surrounds those muscles separating those muscle from the fat.
