If you're doing Keto to lose weight you should stop doing that.

Following a diet with the goal to lose weight is never a smart idea. You will hit your goal and fall back into old eating habits.
Just have a normal diet and eat appropriate amounts of food.

I didn't get on it to lose weight, but it sure has been successful on it. 15 pounds lost in about 3 weeks so far.
I did just fine losing weight on a low fat diet right before it, like 80 lbs lost since January.

I'm never hungry, but frick is my mouth/throat greasy as shit, and the fricking salt overload is killing me. I feel sick even though I'm not. It's just disgusting.

I just want a good sandwich again.

This is what I've found. I just can't stick to keto long term. I did it and dropped 30 pounds. Came off of it and started eating normal foods again. I gained all of the weight back. I wasn't even eating bad stuff, just too much I guess. I feel like I would have a way easier time just counting calories than trying to not eat carbs.

I went at least 2, on average 3 timesa week to the gym, by bike. 5min cardio + 1,5h excercise. I stopped eating sugary things I thought and instead meat veggies and potatos or rice. 3 meals a day no snacks, only water or tea, no sodas or shit like that.
I did this for 6 years.
I do keto since only 3 weeks now, but I eat way less and am satiated very fast.

I do keto because after loosing weight (1-5kg) I always made it back without eating more.

I started reading jason fungs book, thats why I started keto.

        >CARBS BAD
God I am looking forward to when this wank is debunked in 8 years and I don't have to hear morons shouting it literally every time food is mentioned in conversation.

I'm by no means a keto cultist, but the truth is carby food does tend to be bad. Bread can be 100-500 extra calories in a meal and it really does nothing to fill you up. Eating carbs through fruit isn't bad, and if you have 100-150g of carbs a day that's still fine imo. Where keto is moronic is when they insist on under 50 or 0 which can lead to health issues and you'll likely balloon back up if you ever start eating carbs again.

But a lot of carby foods really are just terrible empty calories that don't make you feel full and many encourage you to stuff your face with it and overeat. So my opinion is basically a low average carb intake is good, but you should still regularly have them. No need to be extreme and insist unlimited carb intake is fine or you must have none of it.

As for your other assertion, there are many reasons people were slimmer 60+ years ago, the main of which is that they exercised and burned tons more calories than modern people do just to stay alive. So it doesn't matter if their diets sucked(which they did), because they ate smaller portions and did far more physical work. That's not evidence that their diet was fine or suitable for a modern person.

my previous diet I hovered around 50g fat, 100g protein, and 200-250g carbs and did just fine losing weight, lost a lot of weight on it (80+ lbs in 6 months)

granted I did intermittent fasting 16:8 and did exercise daily

some would say that's too many carbs

            Anonymous

Again, I'm not a keto moron. If you have a diet that works and it happens to have 250g of carbs, then no reason not to do it. At the end of the day, the most important thing is feeling full, feeling good, keeping your calories low, and being able to commit and even enjoy your new diet and lifestyle. Tracking nutrition for me was just a way to try out different methods and I personally found lowish carbs(100-150g) ideal for weight loss, but dieting isn't one method fits all.

If you're miserable, there's no point, friend. That doesn't mean indulge on anything but clearly you can tweak your diet and try something else. It shouldn't be miserable. I'm talking as someone who went from being a complete fat frick stuffing his face full of 4.5k calories of fast food and soda every day to 1.2k and I never felt hungry or miserable making the transition.

You're just hurting yourself and possibly causing health problems. There's more than one way to lose weight and imo, keto isn't a great long term weight loss plan. It's more of a short term fat burning diet.

Just consider adding in a small amount of carbs and see how you feel. A banana, an apple, a breadroll for a turkey sandwich for lunch or something. Just add in a bit.

But it's not a very good point against modern diets because all it is evidence of is if you're doing enough cardio, you can burn off a bad diet. It's not evidence that carbs are good for you. The only keto cultist argument it debunks is the idea that you need keto to lose weight or stay thin, which is ridiculous. But that doesn't mean modern diets can't make it easier to burn fat or lose weight.

They give you a lot of short term energy but don't provide long term satiety. Potatoes in particular suck for dieting. They're calorie dense and not filling. Why do you think french fries and potato chips are one of the most common things fatties stuff their faces with and overeat?

I've never even seen anyone use bread or potatoes for weight loss. It makes no sense. The only people that overload on that stuff is like cyclists who will carb load with spaghetti, bread, and potatoes for a ton of energy on their marathons.

People are noticing macronutrient breakdowns and differentiating between high and low quality fats, carbohydrates, and proteins more than ever. This is good. Not all food calories are equal. the only people who should maybe eat a ketogenic diet are people with epileptic seizures. The mechanism by which the ketogenic diet protects the brain from these seizures is that the higher level of ammonia in the brain causes your brain to up defensive pathways which can lessen the occurence of the seizures.

you are increasing blood ammonia levels in your body by having this diet, it is extremly stupid to do

there's nothing special about keto that makes you lose weight, it just forces you to actually count your macros which you can do with any diet. Carbs also add water weight so you'll see that drop off quickly too on any low carb diet, but its not body fat.

Biggest thing keto has going for it is getting people used to counting macros/calories and improving satiety. But you could eat other things to achieve similar levels of satiety on carb-friendly diets, like lots of vegetables and potato.

Keto mainly works because it makes people give up junk food since most of it contains carbs. And it shows people they can keep eating meat, fat, and cheese, unlike people previously thinking they had to eat dry salad and boiled chicken breast to get healthier which is unsustainable.

If you're at a healthy weight then just start adding in healthy sources of carbs, which basically means just avoid highly processed food. Brown rice, fruit, beans, honey, etc. That's good advice in general especially since it seems like there's a lot of keto junk food now which might not be much better for you either.
