didnt mukbang originally just entail eating on camera? it was never about all this extravagance
the genre was born out of people's loneliness and desire to share a meal with another person, but as is the case with most things, america had to turn it big and extravagant because 1. they are flamboyant and showy people 2. they dont experience quite the levels of loneliness that the japanese and koreans do 3. at least asians are aware of their misery, whereas in the west we are being encouraged to disregard our primal need for company and comradery and engage with mindnumbing media full of hyperbolic personalities that dont at all emulate real people
Years ago I remember all the big portion mukbang youtubers being asian, or at least the popular ones that people kept spamming, I don't think it was americans that started this focus on oversized mukbangs surprisingly
extravagant though? yeah probably, the old stuff im remembering was literally like a solo lady sat in a restaurant or bar quietly eating some large portion on stream while the viewers chatted casually
First one looks like it's aimed at kids, so it's gonna get huge views regardless
Doesn't even look like like they added the sauce packets since the noodles are so light, that brand's sauce is like pitch black, thick and glossy since it's basically just concentrated capsaicin or whatever
Neither do I.
But I enjoy watching Japanese women in school uniforms take off their uwabaki and then their socks, so I figure maybe it’s sort of like that.
its literally (originally) made for people who are complete losers who wanted to simulate eating food with friends and family, but dont have any so they watch it on the internet. Its from Korea(and popular in japan and china before it hit it big in the west) where they have that "lost generation" because they fricked up raising their kids to be decent well adjusted people who can converse with others.
I really do see it as an attack on the psyche of the western world, kinda like how tiktok makes a point of elevating feminist/POC/LGBT voices on their platform for non-asian places, but hides them in china(since its pushing "undesirable" elements).
Not to sound crazy, but if something is under a lot of influence from China, i'm pretty skeptical of it and what its end-goal is. Its just a happy coincidence for them that a legion of useful idiots in silicon valley ALSO want all the next generation of kids to be anti-social, queer, angsty and antagonistic to western ideals.
Lucky them.
mark weins is based, I like his personality and his voice is soothing.

modern freakshow. People want to look at disgusting shit out of morbid curiosity, so these creatures provide
sometimes if i'm eating something shitty i like to watch someone eating something nice and pretend that's what i'm eating.
That's why I will never date a minority.
Neither do I.

Same. But middle schoolers and all garments.
The majority of people on the planet are literally moronic. Don't think too hard on it. Just observe and move on.
It's the sin of gluttony made form
someone post it
Why haven't Mark turn into nicocado yet, I want to see him sink and get fat and die, he is still super skinny wtf
Fetish.

I just watched that big vs. medium challenge and it's so funny. The spirit of Tex Avery lives on!
