Wusthof are so fricking overpriced for what they are man. I have that same knife, unironically wish I never bought it.

Well, how are the memes? Besides expensive of course, we already know that.

the knife is the only dumb purchase imo, the other two will provide decades of reliable use.. i mean so will a knife, but i wouldn't want to ever spend more than like $40 on a kitchen knife because i'm not moronic

        >My $300 knife totally cuts better than your $40 because it has a brand name on the side that means it has more value and my Instagram followers think I'm rich because I have it

        wow, amazing
sorry, but sharp thing cuts things as well as other sharp thing

No shame in it. I've been on Culinaly long enough to have been memed into buying sriracha when you still had to go to an Asian store to buy it. Happens to the best of us.

I got memed into buying a potato ricer, used it once then it sat in a drawer for a year (and took up half the drawer.)

Also I really want one of those tiny stupid dutch ovens, and I know they're useless.

I love my ricer man, used it for dinner tonight. My mandolin on the other hand...

I've never seen a need for a mandolin outside professional environments, it's not hard to cut things uniformly, it just takes some time, which isn't a problem unless you're prepping for 20+ people

Pretty much the only reasonable home use is for coleslaw, scalloped potatoes, and pickling stuff like cucumbers and onions. Essentially jobs where being able to slice a bunch of stuff uniformly is handy as a time saver.

And even then it's not as useful as a deli slicer, that can be dialed in FAR more precisely and has more uses. Plus that little fricker will take off bits of finger if you aren't careful.

I’m a moron with a small motor skill disability and can’t cut things with a knife very well. Mandolins and food processors and those Asian slicers and choppers are a life saver. I still use a knife, but it takes me forever,

Never mind then. You did good, all those things you bought will serve you well for either decades or for life.
