I fricking hate when midwesterners give cutesie names for foods

>pic related
Wish it had a better name but it comes from Texas and it's pretty yuck so they call it "cowboy candy" even though it's just candied jalapeano and pineapples

Is it only midwesterners that do this?

Not sure. I don't know why but when it has a name like "cowboy candy" it becomes unappetizing. It's a big new thing to slather it on pizza as a topping.
I don't even hate pineapple but jalapeanos on pizza are uber nasty

Jalapeno and pepperoni was my go-to Casey's gas station pizza order back in aught six

Exactly why I made this thread. There was some pizza out and they had cowboy candy on it and it's too foul for my taste. It makes my tummy rupture.

          But Texas is not midwestern

I'm not just talking about cowboy candy. Tiger meat, booyah, chippers, etc.

You made this thread because I used to eat gas station pizza when I lived in the Midwest?

That's right. I was the pizza all along.

What is it exactly? Because of the crackers I assume a beef spread?

You'd be wrong. It's hard to explain but it's basically candied peppers, pineapple, jalapeano, onions, etc. It's in a stew of sweet juices and used for crackers, pizza, etc.

This ^ British people love to have ironic funny names for the most mundane shit. The army does it too like "shit on a shingle" and I fricking hate it.

turns out a bunch of idiot kids straight out of high school whose main job is homicide tend to have crass names for banal concepts

I can't fathom why a food product would have a memorable name like "Cowboy Candy" instead of just calling itself Candied Jalapeño & Pineapple.

      Anonymous

It's misleading. It has nothing to do with cowboys or candy. It's just candied peppers.
Could have called it "Poppy Peppers" or "Sundance Sweets" or something.

I do know about them that's why I said it lol. Honestly, they are fricking delicious. One of my fave cookies that isn't choco chip. Stupid name though.

I like pineapeanos a lot. Yeah, it is a dumb name.

I'mma start calling it from now on, hope it catches on.

Japapple relish is unironically a better sounding name to me than cowboy candy
      but I don't know

      Pepper Picks
      Sweetie Spices
      Pineapeanos
      Dynabites
Cowboy candy just doesn't hit for me. It's not a good description to what it is. I'm sure some people didn't even know this was a thing until today
