Depends on the cause. Could be your blood sugar. You could do a blood sugar test to see if that's the cause, can buy the equipment to do it yourself for not that much money.

I have dysautonomia and carbs make my heart rate go up too much. It makes me want to go to sleep but it's more like almost passing out.

eat less carbs and have a coffee with your meal

I read coffee inhibits absorption of iron and other things and it's not good to have it at the same time as a meal.

Its the opposite for me. When the mid-day slump hits me like a truck out of nowhere to the I start nodding off to sleep, 90% of the time its followed by a huge dump. I think its my body putting all its resources into preparing for it because I feel better and more alert than waking up out of sleep after it.

You're eating too much carbs, spiking your blood sugar, and crashing.
Stop bulking out your meals with cheap filler.

Many times, sleepyness after a big meal is from all the blood in your body rushing to your guts to start digesting a huge fatty dense meal. To delay that, people would take an herbal digestif like Underberg or Cynar. A little Cynar and soda with a big squeeze of lemon will make you skip out of the restaurant instead of drag yourself.

Underberg tastes like a handful of dirt and old leaves

I feel the same way as well.

As a result, I just cut out carbs in the morning.

I eat a light breekie with greek yogurt or with some blueberries or some kind of veggies. I save my carbs for night and the weekends now.

    Blood sugar issue, possibly.
Cut back on carbohydrates and sugars.
Should be really easy to test it out over the course of a couple days.
