I got gallstones and found nibbling on salt and vinegar chips through the day really helped. I was wondering why so I read into it, and it turns out the acetate ion signals the liver to reduce cholesterol production and the gallbladder to excrete more bile juices, which flushes the system and helps dissolve the stones. So you might think vinegar on its own would help, but it didn't; I found that I only felt better when it was specifically in the acetate form (sodium acetate, the sour salt they use for vinegar flavoring).
Another thing I learned was that apparently the plant cholesterol present in vegetable oils the chips are fried in have a protective effect because they act like "diet" cholesterol and substitute for the real stuff in reactions.
Anyway I thought all this way neat so thought I would share it here just in case it might help somebody else with gallstones. It's a lot cheaper and less risky than medication or surgery, that's for sure.

Apparently it doesn't though, since it's clearly dissolving as we speak. I went from so nauseous and bloated I couldn't think straight to feel spry and snappy within the space of a day after trying this.

I got my gallbladder taken out around 2016, shit sucked.

I mean shit if that's working then go for it. How did you know they were gallstones?
When I had mine I was in probably the worst pain of my life and went to the urgent care and the dude immediately booked me a room at the local hospital and told me to go immediately lol

do you get gallstones from something moronic like not drinking water at all or being fat or is it totally random?

depends. you can get them from fasting in the mornings. you need to eat something fatty in the mornings to flush all the heavy bile from the previous night. it’s honestly from not eating enough healthy fats

      this, need to know

pain under sternum or towards upper right side. worse when eating fats or greasy foods. basically acts as a check valve that prevents bile from being excreted by the gallbladder and builds up excessive pressure. you can relieve the pressure sometimes by reclining or lying flat on your back. kind of feels like ulcers

can it be acute? i think i experienced exactly that a couple times in 2017 but it sort of just stopped coming back before i could go to the hospital for it and i kinda just forgot about it. but the pain was unmistakable

not usually. if they were small enough to pass on their own you probably wouldn’t have felt them. Could be GERD

I think bile can also get sludgey and essentially have the same impacts

    Good man.
For those wondering, Gallstones often present as a sharp pain in the upper right quadrant of the abdomen, and often as sharp pain in your back behind the right shoulder(referred pain)
    From the Mayo clinic:

    >Sudden and rapidly intensifying pain in the upper right portion of your abdomen
    >Sudden and rapidly intensifying pain in the center of your abdomen, just below your breastbone
    >Back pain between your shoulder blades
    >Pain in your right shoulder
    >Nausea or vomiting

    >Gallstone pain may last several minutes to a few hours.
Sucks BAD. You can alleviate it a bit by lying on your right side, but it's barely a stopgap measure.
I'm the last member of my living family who still has my gallbladder, and I wouldn't give it up for the world.
Either take out the fricking stones, or leave it the frick alone, doc--everyone I've ever talked to who had theirs removed wished they hadn't.
Fricks up your digestion something fierce, regardless what the doctors say to get you to let them cut it out.
