Paleo is a moronic meme but the news coverage for that study has been incredibly dishonest.
It was noteworthy because this is the only group of people from that pre-agriculture era ever found to have incorporated a substantial amount of plants in their diet.
All the news articles on it were written with headlines like in your OP implying the finding was that all of these prehistoric pre-agricultural people on Earth were eating vegetable based diets.

        >make stuff up
I posted the quote from the the study's author explaining exactly what I wrote. Not sure what you're on about. Look it up yourself if you think that screenshot isn't real. The author was clear this finding for this one group of people was different from how most others were eating at that time. There's more text about it here like the mention of realizing this in part because of all the cavities their remains had:

        https://i.imgur.com/6lw7B7Z.jpeg

        [...]
The study itself was fine. The problem is the news coverage like in OP's screenshot completely misrepresented it.
It found an *exception* case of one ancient group of people from the pre-agriculture time period who subsisted predominantly on vegetables.
Also it definitely wasn't an endorsement of veganism sincr part of how they reached this conclusion was by seeing the extensive cavities in the remains from these people, something you wouldn't get a typical pre-agriculture meat based diet.

Usually you only see bone markers for health problems like tooth decay, growth arrest (Harris lines), anemia (porotic hyperostosis), scurvy, rickets, osteoperosis, etc. in remains from the Neolithic revolution.
I'm neither vegan nor a carnivore diet moron but just look it up because that headline is a blatant lie for the study it's based on.

It's pretty annoying, archaeologists won't say stuff like that, there's so much evidence of meat consumption in various groups already, but newspapers come out with dumb headlines and make the discipline look bad.

The one time I used a tripcode, maybe around 2011 give or take, it was to advocate for mostly (not strictly) vegetarian (not even vegan) eating, and it enraged people so much that I started getting automatic 30 day bans just for using the trip. I tried it again after a few years, and within a few hours, boom, another 30 day ban. Haven't tried it for at least 6-7 years at this point but I'm pretty sure I still have the tripcode somewhere. Pic mostly unrelated, I guess.

Anyone who thinks the "caveman diet" isn't 99% vegetarian is a fricking moron who has absolutely no critical thinking skills or cognitive function. Coming to the conclusion that prehistoric humans mostly ate plant matter could be considered common sense.

      Anonymous

No. Before intensive farming became a thing, humans were nomads or semi-nomadic. They ate fruits, tubers, insects, fish, birds and game. Contrary to popular belief, veges were scarce and not very nutritious during paleo times. The fruits and veges we eat today were genetically bred to become huge, sweet and easy to grow over thousands of years. E.g., a wild banana is very small and have hundreds of seeds and is barely edible. Same with carrots etc. Most of our leafy veges are mutants bred from the original cabbage. Only after rice and wheat farming took hold could humans afford enough calories to go vegan.

But they did not eat MORE vegetables. Look at current day nomads in Africa, South America or Asia. They ate everything. My point is the vegan diet is a "modern" development, at least Bronze Age after large scale farming became widespread. The view that our cavemen ancestors exclusively ate leaves and berries is wrong because those foods are low in calories, scarce, seasonal and unreliable.

    >However, it must be stressed that the Taforalt humans studied here were not strict vegetalians, as isotopic offsets between the δ15N and δ66Zn herbivore and human values are documented and because zooarchaeological data indicate that animal protein was consumed. In particular, cut marks were observed on the faunal assemblage, mostly on Barbary sheep but also on gazelle, equid, large bovines and hartebeest. These cut marks provide evidence of butchery and processing of animal remains, which directly supports the notion that animal protein was an integral part of the Taforalt human diet.

The Inuits have worse rates of heart disease than the average American and constantly commit suicide because their culture tells them to die as soon as food dries up so the young don't starve. Also, their diet isn't a carnivore diet in the way that we think of it, since they still eat vegetables whenever available and seal meat is high enough in carbs to prevent ketosis.

      >I'm fricking some native teen why do I need to run out and die in a war for ((big meat))
Trog brings home some leaves to eat.
Thog brings home an elk leg to eat.
Which one is going to be doing all the fricking the cave that day?
      >But Thog might die in the hunt
And Trog will die when Yorg from the neighboring cave sees Trog is too pussy to defend himself or his tribe.

        >Which one is going to be doing all the fricking the cave that day?
the one who is most attractive since there was no money system and humans lived in groups where everyone had to contribute to the wellbeing of the tribe, pussy or not, or they risked getting kicked out and fed to the elements. this shit wasn't the flintstones

it isnt relevant what cavemen ate. thats the thing people are missing. it doesnt fricking matter. the whole paleo claim is a logical fallacy that presupposes itself. id rather base my life on what we have discovered in the thousands of years since cavemen. fricking morons

So why do carnists think that skipping meat for one meal is going to make you die of ... whatever? I don't know what goes on in the carnist brain. But they will have a tantrum and scream veganism if they have to go 20 minutes without a fistful of deep fried pink slime

When we used to work in offices my department would go out for group lunches about once a week and there was one guy who would always veto anything fun because "veganism is unhealthy, we were meant to be omnivores". What he meant by that was that if he didn't get his familiar hamburger and fries he would have a panic attack.

Every single person who complains about "vegans" is really just someone who had bad parents who spared the rod. Omnivores eat vegetables. A proper rounded diet is not veganism. But this is what they've brainwashed themselves into so eating a slice of whole wheat bread is now "vegan" because it's not wonder bread.

    Kill all carnists.

I complain about vegans because people are uneducated. No, babies cant be fed vegan diets. No, your cat cant eat vegan. Yes if you do eat vegan you WILL need injections for aminos. All not debatable.

Grug jumped at every chance to eat good meet he got

why would early man actively not eat a rabbit if it could catch it? Surely even if this is true, isn't vegetarian a better word? because vegan implies active avoidance.
    just doesnt make common sense.

Sure, they probably mostly ate what they gathered because it was few and far between when they hunted an animal. But that's not the full picture
