I need vegetarian things to put on these dinguses.

I need vegetarian things to put on these dinguses. I have celiac disease so these are like my main carb but I'm struggling to come up with stuff.
Things I've tried:
>Eggs
I make killer egg tacos, have for years. It's a good heavy meal but not at all a snack. And I eat a ton of eggs
>Impossible hamburger
I do a quarter of a burger per 2 'tillas, fully dressed. But they' a b***h to make, they smell bad. Ideally I want something I can just pull out of the fridge or nuke in the toaster oven, though I know it's a lot to ask.

Yeah, I've been vegetarian for years and only developed celiac now. But I'd sooner live on gluten free cake and ice cream etc than eat dead animals. Right now I'm not eating sugar either for weight loss, so my diet is fairly limited.
      >egg tacos
      >gf pizza
      >tater tots with eggs
      >gf pasta with pesto
      >cheese and gf crackers
      >hummus and tortilla chips
      >baked potatoes
There are plenty of high-effort options, like soup and stuff. But I need a few more staples to just yoink out of the fridge, and I love corn tortillas.

        Here's the thing
Being a vegetarian does not mean you kill fewer animals
It's just that you think somehow you're not
It's not realistic and it's a bit juvenile
You know what lives in those corn fields? Deer. Do you know what a combine harvester does to deer?
Oh and don't kid yourself, while adult deer may be savvy enough to get out of the way, fauns instinctively lay down when threatened
So corn fields = tons of dead baby deer
Those grain silos are like giant rat blenders
Everything you do in life will kill animals
Driving, having stuff shipped to your house, even having lights on at night
Lights attract moths and other nocturnal animals, spiders and other predators kill and eat them
        There's no avoiding it
Unless you are taking an active role in being a good husband to wildlife, you're killing it just by simply drawing breath
You know who actually pays the most into conservation? Hunters
No, it's not taxpayers, it's not PETA, it's hunters; their tags do more to protect the environment and wildlife
You know what keeps every industry from absolutely trashing our waterways? It's fishers and the money they spend on licensing
You know what keeps all of the deer and elk from getting hoof-and-mouth and CWD? Game hunters
You know what keeps lumber companies from clear-cutting every forest in the country? Bear hunters
You know what prevents every big cat and rhino from getting poached off this earth? Trophy hunters
I eat meat every day and I have no problems with this because I take an active role in protecting the environment
So eat your meat and do the same, otherwise you're just contributing to the problem
It's hard work, you'll need the energy

I read it. It's well reasoned for the most part. It all hinges on equating personal eating habits being thought to directly reduce animal death, but then again that is a very common thought among vegetarians. I'd rather have three active threads for the whole board full of a handful of these sorts of replies than sixty pages of bump limited threads filled with posts like your limp wristed reply

The entire post is just an ungrounded assertion that more animals die from grain farming than meat farming (complete bullshit) combined with a bunch of holier than thou horseshit that if someone said that to my face I'd kick them out of my house

I'm not defending eating meat at all
I'm saying that it's hypocritical to think that not eating meat spares life when it doesn't
If you want to protect animals, you have to actively work to protect life
So what do you do? I work with the Mule Deer Foundation and I foster abandoned kittens for the local shelter

                Anonymous

No, it's impossible to know this
Animals will be killed in the process of making meatless foods
Not just in the farming and production of those foods, but also by turning wildlife habitats into farmland
Farmers have destroyed much of the wild llama habitats in order to produce quinoa
Llama died for that quinoa, think about that the next time you see a box of quinoa
                It's not a zero-sum game

I'm not saying it doesn't happen, but eating a plant doesn't require killing an animal. Perhaps as technology continues to develop we can grow all the food we need without displacing and killing animals. Unless you're eating something like lab-grown meat, then eating meat requires harming and killing animals.

                Anonymous

                >but eating a plant doesn't require killing an animal
Yes, it does, as there are no farming, storage, or shipping methods that won't cause the death of animals, even if there is no meat in the food

Lets say a year's worth of grain and legumes causes 1,000 rat deaths
One steer carcass has enough meat to feed a person for a year
Let's say that person also eats grains and legumes at half that rate
                Meatless diet: 1,000 deaths
                Meat diet: 501
In that scenario, the meat diet is more ethical from a lives lost perspective
But since it's impossible to know how many animals are killed on the ancillary side of food production, the truth is simple:
There is no ethical difference between eating meat versus a vegetarian diet

We only have so many spins around the sun, Anon, the only morally superior path is to make a good life for yourself and others
What you eat while you do that is unimportant

No and I said rats. Rats specifically. Rats are very smart, lovable, and loyal animals, and they are universally crushed under the wheels of agriculture
Mice can be smart, too, and often die
Just because one animal is bigger doesn't grant it more value. A mouse isn't worse than a rat, and a rat isn't worse than a steer
                A life is a life
                And ultimately, that includes plants
If you think I don't have trees that have become family to me or others, then your moral relativism knows no bounds

You're missing the point. I know that the current system kills animals even if you're vegetarian. But as technology continues to develop, that can end. It's not required to kill an animal to eat a plant. I want others to have good lives, but that includes animals too. But to eat an animal will require killing whereas a vegetarian diet has the potential to not kill any animals at all, even if that's not how it currently is.

Those animals left in the wild come to a horrible end and die mangled in pain for days or horribly eaten alive. If I had to choose a life as an animal it would be on a farm killed a quick bolt to the head over being torn apart by wolves or a bear.

Better to die young quick than old and painfully. All animals in the wild die terrible deaths either starving to death after they can't fend for themselves or being eaten alive.

You have no choices because you have selected yourself out of the gene pool. Also I eat at least 2lbs of meat a day, you will never save enough animal lives by abstaining to make up for how many I eat.

Most people eating meat aren't hunters. I understand your point though, but I still think it's not ideal. Those animals still don't want to die and you force that on them. So if what you say does reduce harm, it still causes harm to a smaller number of animals. Ideally we'll come up with a solution to these problems without having to kill.

buy masarepa mix, it's a type of parcooked masa meal, looks like cornmeal. You hit the cornmeal with hot water, and bam, you have hot dough to make arepas. These are literally stuffed with all kinds of savory fillings in Venezuela. From stewed meats to sauteed veggies, to sliced avocado, spoonfuls of salsa, cheese, fresh cilantro, and so forth. Shove a salad in a split arepa.
Sometimes, I make my hot water dough with a pinch of sugar, and salt, and make a breakfast arepa with simple cheese inside. Make a crispy edged arepa by pan frying in butter, for texture.

There's a thicker tortilla, again if you want to make your own called huaraches. They are often spread with beans, and cheese on top of that, broiled until the cheese is browned and nice, and then a spoonful of salsa.
