        Well, it doesn't have that perfect "seaweed layer/rice layer/filling layer" thing going on, but who cares? Still looks pretty good - at least until you mentioned the cool whip layer - for that, you should be beaten with a stick of bamboo.

    You've inspired me to give sushi a try. I picked up some nori sheets, pickled ginger and wasabi from the store today. Coincidentally, ALL sushi-related products in the store were on clearance sale, 75% discount. I even got a bamboo sushi mat for $1. I guess sushi stuff just isn't selling lately.
    Bout to get the rice cooking. Maybe I'll start with simple tuna and cucumber rolls.

      10/10 presentation. Looks like fresh nori. rice looks more snowy and clean indicating it was washed thoroughly to remove excess starch before boiling The cut is clean, indicating a clean sharp wet knife was used.

    3/10 would still prob. eat. Looks like a philadelphia roll. Its too heavy on the cream cheese. Cool your cream cheese better then wet the knife and cut the cream cheese maybe a 2 centimeter cube. Same for the other ingredients and lay them together in the roll trying to avoid voids. Here Im not seeing alot of roll cuts with all 3 ingredients involved. also the way the fish is cut indicates your knife is probably dull. clean and wet the knife for cuts and it will avoid cream cheese all over the sides of your roll cuts.

    I dont like the idea "you eat with your eyes" but sushi is something that needs to be presentable.

    This was my first time making sushi. Don't care what it looks like I ate it all (over two days). Speaking of sushi, what alternative stuff I can I roll in sushi? I remember someone here said they used drained tuna fish, I wanna try that.

      i make it often because i like it
      but i have never had any other sushi
      i was just thinking its just rice, seaweed and some stuff
      its like a sandwich the spiced rice and everything goes well with tuna
      i get two rolls out of 1 can which lasts at least for two days
      i make it with ramen style noodles, egg rollls, and sweet and sour beef and onions with the leftover rice
      i use beyond steak because factory farms are wrong
      its important that i utter all this stuff so i dont spurn on factory farming
      the tuna is wild caught so its somewhat acceptable still not great to not kill my own fish

      Because it was my first time I just did carrot, cucumber, and 'cado. I don't think I have any pictures of my second time when I tried cutting fish and frankly I'm glad because I made a mess of it.
