If you do this you are a moron

If you want smaller onion pieces, make more slices in both directions. All these meme techniques like radial cutting or bisecting the onion like in OP do nothing but waste time.

Using radial cuts takes the same amount of time as vertical cuts and you get a better end result. You're stupid if you still use vertical cuts.

I slice it then push it through a cube veggie cutter. (pic related though I'd use a smaller size)
But really, I hardly ever ever dice onions. I always finechop them. I quarter the onion then put the quarters into an easypull manual food processor.

to be fair, to all the morons in this thread, it does make the pieces slightly more uniform, but only if you do huge chunks like in pic rel. if you're doing this when dicing finely, you are of course a moron

I only do this if I need extremely finely chopped; normally horizontal and verticle cuts suffice; very rarely do I ever add the crosspane

You never need to do the half cut even if you want a fine dice for a sauce or something, you just need a sharp ass knife and make the vertical cuts thinner. And the horizontal cuts tiny as well.

Slice the onyo in half. Slice into half circles and mince them. But when you get to the round end, rotate it 90 degrees so you can repeat the process of slicing then mincing it. Those ends are the only part that will have much bigger pieces if you just mince straight across.

you get better advice when the foodtuber isn't in french cooking larp mode. like rick bayless says the same about cutting onions, because he makes mexican food
