I make $250 twice a month, what ingredients from the grocery store can I buy for cooking to sustain myself while keeping a profit? What meals should I be cooking?

pork shoulder potatos and broccoli
Yummy
I honestly fuck with beans more than lentils I don’t know they’re not mushy like beans.
beans, eggs, brown rice will carry you.
slow cooker pork shoulder carnitas will feed a person for a week. just remember to make big batches of cheap bulk shit and freeze the leftovers.
Bet
I'd look for food pantries as well, or your college may have some kind of food donation program or financial aid for meals too
i forgot about that. doesnt usa have EBT and food bank resources? seriously, dont be shy. use that shit.
Big bag of rice + big bag of black lentils. Skip the bean meme, lentils are the big brain choice.
Buy Hispanices to make curries or other lentil dishes.
Honestly man I’d apply for food stamps or look for a places that are giving away food. I know Culinaly is all reeee about handouts but 500 bucks a month is nothing.
Also this. Lentils go hard. Split pea soup is good too. Whole milk and eggs are a cheap source of protein.
I’m a college student that gets paid minimum wage for IT it’s fucked up. I’ll check out my local food stamp program.
Rice and Pasta
Chicken breast/mince
Certain fish.
Rice, lentils, cheap meat with bones like pork or chicken, organ meats.
Vegetables on the farmers market are cheap, sweet potatoes are very nutritious.
You will probably be healthier that 99% of the slop eaters on this board.
what country
Have you ever considered getting a job? Even at minimum wage, working part time, you should be earning more than that.
I work 30 - 35 hours a week at $9 an hour. Campus jobs are just slave labor.
America.
2 weeks*
>I work 30 - 35 hours a week at $9 an hour. Campus jobs are just slave labor.
You should learn a skill so you can earn at least $15 an hour. I never went to college and I make a little over $31 an hour.
He said country. Not continent.
Shut the fuck up, third worlder. Nobody gives a FUCK about your trashy shithole countries. You arent American and you never will be.
>Shut the fuck up, third worlder. Nobody gives a FUCK about your trashy shithole countries. You arent American and you never will be.
Did you know that there are two Americas?
Like, for real for real, there are two continents called America.
...you fucking dumbass.
No there’s only one America
HELL YEAH BROTHER
check your grocery store’s discount bakery/discounted meats, and like other anons have said: go to food banks and get food stamps. No one starves in America unless they choose to. Food pantries are great if you’re poor
Stay mad turd worlder
USA
USA
USA
USA
you are being shallow and pedantic
You better be working some sort of job related to your degree or be in some sort of internship.
If you're the intern school janitor then get the fuck out ASAP, there's way better jobs that pay more and work around your schedule, probably some that are tangentially related to your degree.
If your school has a lot of clubs and speaking events, and you have some time to spare, you can try checking the calendar to see which ones have food. The speaking events and lectures with food may tend to be pizza but some clubs will have full meals (there was a church organization at mine that did full home cooked dinners once a week).
There are probably jobs you can do remotely for double that, even part-time.
Eat three of these bad boys every day. You'll have $360 left over for crack.
>eggs $1.22 a dozen
>gold potato’s $2.50 5 lb bag
> ground beef $2.00 a lb
>chicken breast $2.00 a lb
>rice cheap af I forget
>frozen veggies cheap as dirt
>bacon $3.00 a lb
>tortillas shit ton for like $3
>top sirloin $5 a lb
Hispanices are kind of a barrier as far as start up cost goes
Never have this thread again
All of your prices aren't American. Everything you list is at least double the price, and meat is usually 5-8$ a lb. Not sure where the fuck you're shopping.
If you're an American and make less than 2 grand a month food is free. Don't be a retard that eats ramen just go call your county and get ebt. They can give the card the same day if you need it. Like 50% of snap ebt benefits are unclaimed, it's benefits we already paid for with taxes and it's just sitting there, and people still make these dumbass threads. I REPEAT FOOD IS FREE IN AMERICA IF YOU MAKE LESS THAN 2K A MONTH TELL YOUR FRIENDS
nothing is free.
ITS FUCKING ALREADY PAID FOR ITS SITTING ON THE TABLE THE MONEY IS FUCKING SPENT IT JUST SITS THERE IF NO ONE USES IT IT DOESN'T COME BACK TO YOU IF NO ONE USES IT GET ON EBT RETARD
A lot of things are free if you show shopkeepers your 100% off discount coupon.
No it's not. I applied for EBT with an income of $1300/mo and got jack shit. Fuck off.
Search the floor of the supermarket for miscellaneous stuff that fell to the floor such as single grapes or something that fell from a broken package
like oats, peas, rice and beans such dried things can be like 2$ and amount to several meals
livers and offal are the most nutrition efficent meat afaik so you only need 2 eat them like twice a week
and otherwise eggs can really round out the protein quality.
If you're willing, a little upfront expense for the standard set of Indian Hispanices will go a long way in saving you money and make you not want to blow your brains out, since outside of that all you need is onion, garlic, ginger, tomato and some kinda veg/protein to make an infinite array of meals.
Also look for discounted things, not sure how it is in the US but in the UK you can always find big joints of meat on huge reductions in shops because people don't know to cook them and they sit on the shelves and expire
Just go to lidl or aldi. Even Sainsburys has a lot of affordable food on that budget
Learn how to make porridge, or bread if you have the time, with flower. This will be the bulk of your daily calories.
flour*
Fuck.
shop where the mexicans shop locally
your diet is now caribbean/south american style versions of mostly beans, rice and highly flavored smoked and preserved meats, and the proverbial "sofrito" base for starting your dishes.
Buy large bags of onions, potatoes, rice, limes, dried beans and either freeze leftovers when you cook in batches or just not be afraid to get a bit bored. Have an herb garden you maintain.
Cook like they do in trinidad with their own double-doubles and other patted out flatbreads cooked on a griddle, or fresh tortillas (flour). Unleavened bread means no yeast expense, Aldi has really inexpensive breads, fruits and vegetables.
buy yourself the biggest 15psi pressure cooker you can afford then buy the biggest cuts of discount meat you can find. Speak to several butchers. Don't go in like you're looking for charity but just be upfront about your situation. Ask if they can cut you any deals on stuff that's gonna go to waste. Some might look at you funny but it's quite possible that you will find a normal person who says yeah sure. Better yet don't bother and find deals. My local supermarket does 1/4 off your first order so I just sign up with a new account time and buy £80 worth of meat in bulk packs for £60. Get a used deep freezer off Facebook market and pack your food properly. Within a month you'll have more food than you know what to do with.
Stop buying small quantities. Large amounts of essentials. 1 huge bag of rice, 1 big bag of potatoes, 1 huge bag of dry black beans. Pressure cooker will be a fraction of cook time allowing you to not spend all day fucking around cooking beans. You can throw a weeks worth of chicken in a pressure cooker, blast it for ten minutes in stock, drain the water and then literally just shake it and it will fall apart. Shredded chicken for a week in tubs in the fridge ready to use in about half an hour of prep if you count waiting for it to reach pressure
