Just realized that me, as a Canadian, can drink plentiful water for free from my taps, sourced from the freshest reaches. Kinda fricked up to imagine people that open their taps and get poison. Holy frick am I glad to be Candian. good luck Americans

Dude, frick off. We have plenty of places with garbage non-potable tapwater. Even in Vancouver we usually get contamination warnings once a year due to flooding.

Buy replacement filters from off brand sites.

It's literally the same ones but you save 250$+

Filter is proprietary and no third party replacements exist
    This is a good thing
OP is going to get a Brita filter that's done up to look like a Berkey and I'm going to have to go out on the town working as a gigolo

I have one. The pros are that you don't have to buy bottled water that has been sitting in plastic for unknown amounts of time. The cons are that as well as taking out all of the bad stuff from the water the filter also removes the good stuff, so the water is a bit 'flat'.

Minerals and stuff that are present in natural spring water.

Eh, I take vitamins and can add things to the water afterward. I'd rather that than drink city sewage water full of monkeypox and microplastics

Is it settled that any commercial water filter actually removes microplastics

Berkeys filter viruses, so I would expect so.

Why are you drinking sewage water?

It's hyperbole anon. My local water is subpar.

Tap water is filtered. What makes you think putting a $20 made in china filter in some piece of shit on your counter does a better job than the multi million dollar water treatment facility already doing it?

That water has to travel miles. The pipes that water travels through are incredibly filthy. They don't get cleaned anon. Ever.

Why would they be getting dirty? The only thing running through them is water. And they are cleaned, by fricking water and chlorine, that's kinda what it does.

Why do you think it's ok to drink chlorine?

                Anonymous

Because it is. Chlorine isn't toxic in the amounts used in tap water. Why would you think it's not okay? Billions of people are drinking chlorine every day.

Depends on the filter system. You can buy one that adds back the minerals.

this is why it's important to get your water tested so that you know exactly what kind of filter to use.
