with minimal activity you'll slowly lose weight if you maintain a caloric deficit. Did that with a 1600 calorie intermittent fast for a year and lost weight while sitting at my computer all day with some light exercise at home with a 30lb dumbbell.
If you're brave enough to do cardio you can lift. Either socialize with others there asking for tips or work with gym staff for a trainer to show you the ropes. you'll make it provided you don't give up

Anon said, real gyms are one of the least judgemental places out there. Every guy who continues to go to the gym is there to better themselves. You'll find that gym bros are super supportive of helping everyone who puts in effort.
The employees, and people who know what they're doing, are more than happy to help you learn how to do an exercise and how to do an exercise with good and proper form.
Do not feel ashamed if you can't do something. Everyone starts somewhere. I did squats with no weights before I did squats with just the bar (45lb). I squatted multiple sessions with an empty bar to focus on getting a better form. I spent months unable to do proper pull-ups and push-ups, needing negative weights for pull-ups and inclines for push-ups.
If you're a truly fat frick, many strength training exercises might be unsafe do to. Proper good and safe form is always more important. There is no shame in doing multiple sets of single reps. There is no shame in sticking to walking and/or swimming until you lose enough weight to regain better range of motion.

Unfortunately, there's a hard limit of how much energy you can use in a day, and it's not very high.

I made the calculations for an obese guy (BMI 32, average weight), and it's:
          >Sedentary: 2,357
          >Running/gym 4 days a week: 2,946

            preach. people who say
            >i eat whatever i want and dont gain weight
are not metabolically damaged in the same way an obese person already is and cant really conceive of what most fat fricks are putting into their body calorie wise. YOU WILL NEVER BECOME NOT FAT VIA EXERCISE ALONE. exercise will help accelerate what a deficit is already doing but unless you are a world class athlete you are *never* going to outrun a 6,000 calorie per day diet.

To OP, focus on incremental gains. Trying to do too much at once as a crash diet will burn you out fast. yo-yo dieting is pointless. Immediately cut the low hanging fruit
            >replace soda with 0 calorie drinks
            >avoid eating out and fast food in specific
            >avoid pre-prepared meals, frozen food, etc
            >eat lots of fiber from vegetable sources, mix with high satiation, high nutrient foods like eggs and shellfish
            >also include probiotic, get into kefir to recolonize the gut microbiome you have devastated with sugar and preservatives
            >cut omega 6 intake (basically all prepackaged convenience foods) and boost omega 3 intake

Also don't weigh yourself frequently. Once or twice a week at most. You didn't become a fat frick overnight and you won't stop being one overnight so the day to day game is irrelevant, you're looking at the week or month scale.

      Anonymous

This is... wrong. All those exercise calories they say you're burning? Like, 100 calories per mile? Yeah no. When you first start working out you might be burning 20% of what they tell you. Weight is lost from diet. Exercise is good for you, you should do it, but you don't lose much weight, if any, from it after a month or two

Eat only foods that God made, apples, raisins, peanuts, pineapples, potatoes, rice, onions, flour, milk, and all that so on and so on
Make meals with that like stir fry
Eat roasted salted peanuts in the shell(the shells will get stuck and cause a blockage so look out) they might just drink a lot of water I'm dead serious about it
You can get 5lbs of peanuts roasted salted in the shell for $14 and if you eat the whole thing it fills you up just chew them up real good a drink a lot of water
Naturally the saltyness will put you off after a couple handfuls then eat an apple. Pink ladys are the best it's like a cup full of juice

Assuming this isn't a shitpost, you should learn to cook something simple and nutritious that lasts multiple meals. Beef/chicken stew is a great place to start.
3 lbs of beef chuck roast or chicken breast
    1 L of appropriate broth
    Paprika or cayenne
    1 tbsp of Rosemary
    1 tbsp of garlic
    1.5 tbsp of salt

Chopped onion or several spoons of dried chopped onions from the Dollar Tree

    Frozen, mixed vegetables
    Yellow potatoes
Black olives if you like them

Put all in a crock pot, cook overnight. This will produce a beautiful, tasty, nutritious stew. The fresh veggies will make you shit out the food in your stomach.

Start getting into cooking; the food you buy from a restaurant or premade is salty chemical garbage that's making you fat and sick. Eating food made from actual food will help out greatly and when you start eating your own cooking more, you'll desire bad food less and less.

You will poop out things you never even ate though

It's used as a pesticide, because it's organic and effective.
It works on pests inside your body, the same way it kills fleas on chickens. By breaking up biofilms and bacterial defences.
You ever seen a SCOBY in kombucha?
        That's a biofilm. Bacterial sludge.
Your mix Diatomaceous Earth into your kombucha, it will dissolve the SCOBY.
Similar biofilm sludge lines the intestines of fat people.
If you take DE, it dissolves a lot of the unnecessary sludge, and the whole GI tract improves dramatically as a result.
Try it for one day, see what happens.

    Go autistic on it.
Find out how many calories you burn each day, eat below that.

Keep a spreadsheet to track your progress. I just used Excel. Be honest with it, enter everything you eat. If you overeat, accept you're going to make mistakes but vow not to make them again.

Beyond that, I'd suggest some exercise. It doesn't have to be much, but, if you imagine you're cutting from 2200Kcal down to 1600Kcal, that's a 600Kcal deficit.

Let's say you exercise bike for 20 minutes a day, that's an extra 200Kcal you're shedding. The more you do it, the easier it gets, and maybe eventually you do more exercise. But, assuming you do at least 200kcal, that's an extra 1400kcal a week. Over a year, that's 72,800 Kcal, or about 20lbs just from taking 20 minutes a day.

I was 270lbs, now I'm 190lb. I've got a bit to go, I've failed sometimes and stagnated in others. But, you just gotta keep at it.

Listen here morons. OP is an obese motherfricker. He doesn't need to worry about his macros. He needs to worry about strictly calories until he plateaus. He can eat nothing but burgers and still lose weight provided he's at a deficit. Trying to get people to completely change all of their bad habits overnight is why dieting always fails. Shit needs to be done incrementally. If obese people had the discipline and will power to fully change overnight then they wouldn't be obese in the first place.

Lots of good advice in this thread, but here's one more big one:
Drink A LOT of water. A minimum of 4 liters a day is a good start, but go for more.
If you find it difficult to get enough down, try getting an app that gives you periodic reminders. Just do an 16oz glass every hour or something, and make sure to finish them.

The keto diet will help you not feel hungry so that you can lose more weight more quickly.

I tried all sorts of diets and would always feel like I was starving. This made me irritable as frick and made it hard to keep dieting.

By eliminating carbohydrates, your body will stop having blood-sugar spikes and crashes, and will stop producing ghrelin ("the hunger hormone"). As a result, you won't feel like you're starving and you won't dive face-first into piles of food until you're satiated. Keto makes it much easier to lose weight and keep it off.

When you eat meals, focus all your effort on vegetables and protein. In fact, the very first thing yoy eat should be a moronic amount of vegetables, like a full pound of collard greens or a sheet tray full fo roasted brussel sprouts or a gallon of salad.

    >What else should I be doing food-wise so I can eventually look down and see my penis.
Everything you're doing is essentially a method of eating less. Because all you need to do to lose weight is to eat less.
If you want to be more anal and sure of your diet, you can track calorie intake so that you understand how much you are actually eating, how much your "cheating" is actually undoing to your rolling average intake. When it comes to fat people, 90% of the time they are consuming a lot more calories than they think they are.
    >Google has given me an information overload.
It's going to be a slow process. With a safe weight-loss diet you should lose about an average of 2 lbs per week.
Weigh yourself regularly and keep track of it. If you take a shower every morning or night, weigh yourself right before. If you take a shit at the same time ever day then weigh yourself after that. Your weight will fluctuate +/- on a daily basis, so what you're looking for is a downward trend of the rolling average.
Exercise and sufficient protein intake will help you minimize muscle loss as you lose weight. (Which means losing more weight from fat than muscle.)
